I have had a few conversations in the past couple days about this upcoming election, there seems to be a common theme with everyone I talk to.
I'm here to say.... A vote based on Morals and Values is NOT a vote for Trudeau.
In my opinion (and I'm still allowed to have one for the time being) is that the argument that if I do not place a vote for O'toole I'm placing a vote for Trudeau is complete bull s**t. And this is why.
We have changed the entire conversation from what we want in this country to who we don't want in power. Most folks have adopted the attitude that we are voting for the lesser of 2 evils. When in fact we have 5 different parties to vote for. Not just 2. We are creating an incentive and actually rewarding the top 2 party's to do whatever they want, not what we actually want them to do.
My/your vote is the only ability we have to apply consequence to the political system. My vote is not to vote one party out. It is to DRIVE the political system in the direction that I want it to go. It’s not to reward the party that is the 2nd best option. It’s to hold all parties accountable for their actions. To apply consequence for poor policy. Currently the political system in Canada is completely VOID of consequence.
Have you noticed that the whole political system has shifted left? The supposed conservative party is leaning more center to left than right on a lot of topics. It will continue to drift towards the left if we keep voting with the mind set of voting a particular party out instead of voting for what we want.
How does it make any sense for me to vote for a party that supports carbon tax, or vaccine passports, or universal basic income? None of those things line up with MY morals or values, so why on earth would I vote for any of those things.
Again, this is my opinion. But I think we need to ditch the vote splitting, and lesser of 2 evils attitudes (the U.S had the lesser of 2 evils attitude) or absolutely nothing will change in this country. If you want change. VOTE FOR IT! While we still have that option.
