BlocKarma BlocKarma works with Indian artisans to create a diverse range of handcrafted products using hand block printing and other traditional techniques.

Karma means actions, work or deeds. Here at BlocKarma all our actions and work are derived from the wooden blocks and hence we call ourselves BlocKarma. BlocKarma was conceived in Rajasthan, one of the most vibrant and diverse state of India. Over several years we have been experimenting with traditional colors, motifs and designs using a blend of hand block printing along with other traditional t

echniques. The fusion of eco-friendly colors and folk designs with natural fabrics creates an amazing spectrum of our clothes and home furnishings. We at Blockarma invite you to be a part of the creativity of traditional artisans of Rajasthan. Block Printing
The traditional process of hand block printing on textiles has been known for many centuries. The artisan dips the hand carved wooden blocks in color and then stamps onto the fabric over and over again. Each color in the design must be applied with a different block. As a result each piece of fabric is stamped anywhere from 500-3000 times or more. Some of our products have been aesthetically designed using vegetable dyes and mud resist Dabu printing. The hand crafted nature of our products will have slight variations in design, adding to the distinctive appeal and grace of the garment.

From block to cloth. This carved block - the anar motif, inspired by the pomegranate begins with the rek—the first outline print that defines motif.
At this stage, the design stands in its simplest form, or it becomes the base for layers to come—filled in slowly with additional blocks and colours. Each impression is placed by hand, creating a rhythm of prints that are similar, yet never identical.

We should be aware of our buying habits - consciously buy quality products. There is a lot of unethical practices done to get the product made cheap like exploiting workers, unsafe working conditions , cheap labour and the promotion of throwaway culture to name a few. All contributing to a cycle of unsustainable consumption.
