This year has truly expanded my heart and made me grow in countless ways. My daughter has taught me so much about myself and how much I can do! What better way to honour her then to launch my new hobby page for my sewing creations: welcome to Lavender & Grey Handmade! This space is a way for me to showcase the many sewing projects I have on the go, share my process and progress, and celebrate my l
earning without driving my family and friends crazy with another post about fantastic fabric or late night seam ripping woes. All my creations are custom made for the beautiful, tiny recipient. If something I make interests you, let me know and we can chat. Why the name Lavender & Grey Homemade? Lavender is known for its relaxing and therapeutic purposes which is the same feeling I get from sewing. Thinking about my craft relaxes me as much as a lavender infused bubble bath does... if only I could sew while having a bubble bath! Grey is a colour I love for its simplicity. Neither bold black or bright white, grey is a comforting middle ground. Maybe I love it because it reminds me of the little elephant themed nursery for my daughter. Perhaps it is reminiscent of the lyrics in "You are my Sunshine" which I sing to her. Maybe it is the feeling of softness I get when I look at grey, or just that it compliments any colour it is paired with. For any and all of those reasons, I love the colour grey! "Home is where the heart is" and homemade is a synonym for 'made lovingly'. I love being a mother to my baby girl and I love the creative outlet of sewing. Lavender & Grey Homemade is a way for me to share my love by packaging it in the form of little fabric hugs. Thank you for supporting me here in my new endeavour.
