from Ottawa & across Canada. It was a classic Bridget and Christina beginning.

Workshop Boutique opened its doors amidst quite a bit of chaos at the end of April 2005. We had a great opening party, then we closed the shop the following day to get our tax returns done! It all really started about a year or so before that, when we met, happily hanging out in the middle of the night in a very long line up waiting for a table to sell our collections at the Byward Market on Canad

a Day. The day turned out pretty badly: there was a huge thunderstorm, we were soaked, and our tents traveled through the air. Some of our handmade pieces even made their way down the street with the floodwaters and into the City of Ottawa’s drainage system, where we think they still are, happily living in the mud. That day will always remain for us the day that set us on a path together. We were both independent women designers who wanted to live and do our thing in Ottawa, a city not traditionally known for fashion. We wanted an outlet to sell our creations. We also wanted a place where we could spend our money according to our ideals. A place where you couldn’t go wrong: where everything was handmade, local, sustainable, made by women, fair trade or a combination of those things. And it also had to be crafty, unique and work with our personal style. We wanted a shop full to the rafters of things that make us smile, things that are fun and functional, and things that make us want to rip them off the mannequins, run into the change room, put them on, and take them home with us. The biggest question we get - is there anything left??? Yes!! SO MUCH!!!

It is still 100% worth visiting today! It's a great time. There's still tons of Canadian made clothing at 30-70% off. (All the above pics were taken at closing last night.) There's a staff pre-loved section. And we're having so much fun with the Thrifted & Vintage Market sharing the space.

So bring your friends, bring your family, bring your dog, your bags, whatever you've got to do. Today is your last chance to update that spring wardrobe with us and check out all the amazing pieces before we pack up!

The Final Day of Trunk Sale is tomorrow (Sunday!) But fear not, there could still be a whole day of shopping Canadian made clothing at 30-70% off ahead of you.🍁🛍️🏃🏻‍♀️ We'll be open 11am - 5pm. Trunk Sale Tips & Tricks!🍂 We've done this a few times and have learned many things along the way. Every year we like to pass on our Trunk Sale wisdom to make it the best experience possible for everyone. Have a great tip we've missed? Please share!

1Wear comfy shoes, leggings, and a tank top. This will keep you comfy, and make it easier to use the communal change rooms we have set up for you! 

Don’t bring too many things with you. Trunk Sale can be bananas in the best way! Since there are so many people around, it’s best to limit the things you carry in if possible.

Utilize your Shopgirls. We’re here to help, and we LOVE these clothes as much as you do! If you need a size or are looking something specific, please don’t hesitate to ask us!

The hold queue is your friend. When you’ve started to collect a few things, let us know and we’ll put your things aside with your name on it. This cuts down on your wait time, and keeps us organized so we know who’s next in line.

Give yourself lots of time. Even at our most efficient, it’s likely you’ll still have to wait a bit for a change room so make sure you’ve booked your babysitter and you don’t have a strict dinner reservation waiting for you.

Bring (or make) a friend. Shopping is always more fun when someone is there to help you out. If your bff can’t make it out, our Shopgirls (and your fellow customers) are always here to help. Bonus Pro Tip: We’ve seen real friendship develop in our communal change rooms because we have the BEST customers who are always there with some helpful advice and a great attitude.

Don’t love crowds? Try Friday during the day. You’ll miss all the commotion *and* you can play hooky from work (we won’t tell).

Try something new. You might just find your new favourite designer by branching out of your comfort zone.

SMILE and bring your positive attitude. Trunk Sale is an incredible time and is made even better because of customers like you who are excited and happy. The positive energy is infectious and we want to make sure you leave us feeling as great as when you arrived!

The TRUNK SALE Scoop: Canadian made, all the way! 🍁

We’re sure that most of you have been to our legendary Trunk Sale at least a few times ‘cause it’s amazing and so much fun, so THANK YOU!

1. We are at the SAME GREAT LOCATION as our Spring Trunk Sale! We’ll be setting up at 955A Gladstone Ave which is in a great area with lots of free parking and the closest we’ve ever been to Flock! It might be the easiest set up we’ve ever done! 🤞

2. Thursday and Friday will undoubtedly be the busiest days and the early bird does catch the worm but please note that this time we have 22 DESIGNERS PARTICIPATING (thousands of pieces) so you’re going to want to go back to Trunk Sale for a second round! Better make space in your calendar for that, just sayin'. 😉

3. The weekend is going to be extra special this time around because we’ve partnered with so you can shop Canadian and also shop vintage at the same time, making all of your dreams come true. 💕

So…what exactly is Trunk Sale? 🤔

Trunk Sale is our biggest sale of the season and it happens twice per year (once in the Spring and once in the Fall).

All of our favourite designers root through their storage lockers, select their best gems from previous seasons and send them to us at up to 70% off. This is a great way for them to clear out their overstock and for you to scoop up lovely Canadian-made pieces at great prices!

This Fall, Trunk Sale will be held at the same location as this past Spring: Next Door Market & Event Space at 955A Gladstone Ave.

Trunk Sale will take place in person for 4 days only:
Thursday, Sept 25th 10am-8pm
Friday, Sept 26th 10am-7pm
Saturday, Sept 27th 11am-5pm
Sunday, Sept 28th 11am-5pm

Due to the epic amount of work involved in preparing Trunk Sale, we are unable to put it online so you’ll have to visit (plus, we love seeing your smiling faces)!
