Well hello all you beautiful people! 🌞 It was picture day at school this week, which of course means awesome new custom dress shirts for my kiddos!! Happy to report that I have learned no lessons from the previous 4 years and once again lost almost an entire night of sleep getting these done in time. Haha

On a personal note. Thanks so much for hanging in there with me. It's no secret I haven't been sewing much this year. The loss of my brother a year ago has been a heavy load, and grief is a strange beast. I have always loved sewing and creating, finding comfort there, but this year I've been struggling to get to my table. Things take longer, feel harder... I'm not myself entirely yet. And the world is heavy now, we all feel it, which weighs on my mind and heart. Any energy I have to spare goes to my family and my new full time job (yay!), and there just hasn't been much left for creativity at the end of the day. And when I do get there in my quiet room, sometimes the sadness creeps in closer. But I'm getting there. An inch (and a stitch) at a time. 🧵

Hey friends, happy weekend! Another holiday throwback that I haven't yet shared is this super sweet Mommy-and-me 'grandpa' cardigan set that I got to make for my best friend and her daughter in the coziest brushed sweatshirt fabric.
The order was 'oversized and comfy', so this slouchy and 9-12 year grow-with-me were the perfect patterns!

I wish I had recorded my son's reaction when I asked him to model this with me. He was like "Is this mine? Can it be mine? I want one just like this mom, with pockets and buttons so I can be fancy. Are you sure I can't keep this one?" Haha- it was so cute and I promise I WILL make him a cozy one of his own now that I'm back at my machines more. 😘 Scroll through for our little photoshoot. 🩷

Hi everyone, it’s been a little while. I’ve taken the past few months away from the grid to focus on healing after the loss of my brother, Dane. Your support during that time meant the world to me—thank you for sharing, reaching out, and holding space for my family and me. It has meant so much.

Between personal grief and distress over the state of the world, it's been a lot. But I’m feeling ready to get back into what I love: creating for my family and friends- that includes you! It’s been a really tough road, and while I’m still struggling and healing, I’m excited to start pouring myself into my art again.

I was thinking about Privilege today. What a Privilege to be able to vote, and what a Privilege to be able to not vote and still have a decent life without consequence.
56% of Ontarians didn't vote last election. 56%!!!
I don't know how to tell you how I feel about this. I feel devastated, I guess. I think it's appalling, I think it's shameful. We watch wars in other countries i folks there would (and do) quite literally die for the right to vote, for the right to live, for the right to be free.
We honour Remembrance day every year but 56% of Ontarians forgot that all of those people who died were literally fighting so that we could live in a free and democratic society.

What has happened? What are we doing? Why are we so complacent? Why can't we take 30 minutes out of our day to show our neighbours that we give a damn; to show the world that we recognize and honour our Privilege and those that fought for it and we will do something with it?

I beg you to remember that voting is a tremendous privilege and we cannot take it for granted. Visiting Vimy in November reminded me how damned Privileged I am, and I will do literally the easiest thing to honour the millions of lives lost and vote. Every damn time.

We are SO Privileged to live in Canada, in Ontario, but I see the cracks. The cracks in the education system as we consider changing my son's school for next year because his teacher worries he will fall too far behind when the class sizes jump to 36 kids because class size caps are much too high once kids hit grade 4. The cracks in the medical system as I opt to stay home and wait out a terrifying croup cough in my child instead of wait 17 hours in the hospital emergency room. The cracks everywhere.

Please. I BEG you. VOTE. Remind your friends to vote. Remind your family to vote. Remind your neighbours and the people in the checkout line with you that it's voting day. Offer someone a ride to a polling station. Remind folks they only need an ID.
Vote like our kids lives depend on it. Because they do.

Hey there folks, I need your help. Not remotely the kind of post I want to be making, but here goes.
💔
My 'baby' brother Dane is missing. He was last seen approximately Oct 10th in the Nictaux/ Annapolis area in Nova Scotia, Canada. Halifax is a potential location where he knew some people. He has not been seen or heard from in over a month. No messages are being seen or responded to. No financial activity, no online activity for more than a month (his entire world is online).
I spoke to a pastor he was close to and confided in, and he hasn't heard from him since September either. I haven't seen my brother for awhile- he takes space he needs sometimes from family, but has never gone 'dark' like this. We have different moms, and he had a tough childhood, and he needs disntance sometimes. But he always responds when I write him, at least within a few days. It's been too long now.
I need your help, your shares, your eyes, if you're out on the east coast.
Contrary to the description in the poster, Dane has brown hair. He also wears an N95 mask in public, and he is very skinny. Likely closer to 150lbs.
I love my brother, and I want to know that he's okay.
