Most vintage lovers know Dior, Balmain, and Givenchy. But Jacques Griffe was another important name in postwar French fashion, celebrated for his impeccable tailoring and architectural silhouettes.

While Dior became a household name, Jacques Griffe earned the respect of other fashion insiders with his masterful draping and impeccable craftsmanship.

I was shocked & thrilled to find this black wool Jacques Griffe Evolution Paris dress, dating to the early 1960s.

Museum-worthy history, but wearable enough for a cocktail party tomorrow. Now available in my shop.

I love when vintage research leads to some interesting discoveries. ✨

This Carolyn Schnurer for Vergelaze sundress is made from almost the same exact embroidered fabric as a Carolyn Schnurer swimsuit in the Metropolitan Museum of Art collection. 💛🌼

I don’t sell a lot of vintage men’s… but I went to an estate a few weeks back for some 50s dresses and got to talking about how I like the really old stuff… well the husband said, “I have something you’ll like!” And went and got this jacket stuffed in the back of a closet. He said his uncle gave it to him in the 1960s and it was already “really old” back then. It was his uncle’s in Germany who was a miner ⚒️I’ve never seen anything like it, have you? Thankfully Jay was a good sport and modelled it for me 🫶 I can totally picture this on a lead singer on stage: David Bowie, Nick Cave and Roger Waters were all known to wear vintage military pieces.

This antique silk petticoat dates to the Gibson Girl era, around 1900–1905, when the fashionable silhouette was all about the dramatic S-curve shape created by corsets, tiny waists, and flowing trained skirts. The soft ruffles and longer back hem would have helped give movement and volume beneath an Edwardian gown. Over 100 years later, it is just as romantic 🕯️

Checkout these vintage, summer pieces 👀 The bold blue maxi is by Malihini in a totally rare tiki print. If you collect vintage labels, Malihini made some of the dreamiest resort and hostess dresses of the late 60s and 70s.

Also added: two pairs of atomic era sunglasses and a sweet 70s floral dress.
