And then I did.
It’s been more than two years and somehow my brain still gives me these little moments where he’s here again.
Even if it’s only for a few seconds.
I don’t talk about this part of me very often on here. But behind Petals & Thread is just a real person.
Someone with a family, a story, heartbreak, and reasons for working as hard as I do.
My dad was always up to something.
Always working, building, figuring something out. I like to think I got a little bit of that from him.
I’m still trying to make him proud.
I’m still trying to build something meaningful.
I’m still trying to take care of his number one fans.
And I’m still grieving him.
I think sometimes we feel like enough time has passed that we’re supposed to stop talking about it.
Like eventually grief should become something quiet that we carry privately.
But I don’t think I want to do that.
Two things can exist.
I can pour everything I have into this business, stay up late, work hard, make sacrifices and chase the things I want for my family.
And I can still miss my dad so much that getting a hug from him in a dream feels worth talking about.
There’s no shame in grieving out loud.
So if you’re building a life you’re proud of while wishing someone was still here to see it, I hope you know you’re not the only one. 🤍
