This order was another one of the big things I had to share. I have two new animals added to the Stitched With Love By Steph family and a new embroidery option to offer!!
Brad came to me a few months ago on the anniversary of his wife's tragic passing. He shared beautiful stories of Sam with me and asked if I could work with her wedding dress. I absolutely love being able to do this. Sam's dress was a beautiful white satin dress with a lace overlay and beautiful beading detail at the bust I knew right away I had to include the lace and the beading.
As we talked about different options I could embroider Brad asked if he gave me a picture of Sam's fingerprints if I could embroider that. I was up for the challenge and told Brad he would be there along the way to give the approval. It took me a few tries, but was able to create the embroidery file the only issue was it is larger than her real fingerprint (it is about 2.5" x 1") to go any smaller I was loosing the details of the ridge pattern. Brad told me he thought it was perfect and to go ahead with that size.
First up was an elephant that Brad will be keeping- he told me a sweet story about an elephant he gifted Sam. We thought the print on the elephant's foot would be the perfect placement. The main body of the elephant came from the main dress the lace was used for the tusks and inner ears. The beading was used for a belt and those tiny little wedding dress buttons that went down the back of Sam's dress got carefully attached to the elephant's back. Beautiful blue eyes were the extra personal touch.
Next up was a chicken - a first for me. This one is for Sam's mom who loves chickens. The print was put on the chicken's tummy. Lace was used for the wings, comb and giblets. I had some of that beautiful beading left so gave the chicken a lovely little bracelet. It was also given blue eyes.
Next was another first a sea turtle. For this one the print went on the shell. Lace was used for the shell with a space cut out for the print so it didn't get covered. The last little bit of the beading was the perfect size for a necklace for the turtle. Then the turtle was finished off with big blue eyes.
I am honoured that Brad allowed me the creativity to make these out of the dress in the best way I pictured them coming together. I truly hope these pieces help keep Sam close to those they will be with forever and that they help with the healing journey. Thanks again Brad for allowing me this opportunity to be part of Sam's story.
