Thank you Peguis First Nation for inviting me to speak tomorrow! Out in Winnipeg for the night, met up with the bro Ian Gladue from Mitsoh earlier today as he was heading to the airport and off to Vancouver, doing some big things that guy!! Hope you guys got your tickets for the upcoming Smudge The Blades Movie premieres at Edmonton and Calgary film festivals, it’s going to be deadly!

OPENING NIGHT FILM: Smudge the Blades (dir. Cody Lightning)

Treaty 6 Blades, an under-18 hockey team from an Alberta reservation, play their last season together when they’re unexpectedly removed from their Edmonton-area league and forced to play in the Northern Alberta league. After their controversial hot-head coach quits, the arena’s Zamboni operator steps up to coach the team himself. As the team navigates their individual struggles, and planning for their futures, their new coach and his unique methods may propel them up the league and into the championship.

Join us after the film for a Q&A with guests from the film AND our Opening Night After Party with light refreshments and celebrations to kick off this year’s festival!

One time I remember getting accused of using hockey medicine cuz we won a 10,000 Rez hockey tourney. Like, WTF? 😡 As if I know how to get a piece of someone’s hockey hair, smudge it, point north over some sweetgrass and bear grease, mix all the ingredients, and then put it in a dressing room at the rink over night. Who even does that? 🤷🏽

Updated schedule for my remaining events in 2026!

I just want to say a huge thank you to all the communities that have welcomed me this year, whether it was to share my story, run my Indigenous Business Workshop, or hit the ice for a hockey camp. I’ve had an amazing time visiting each community, and I hope to make it back again in 2027!

As we head into the final few months of 2026, I’m currently in talks with a few event organizers, but I still have some dates available until they’re officially booked.
