Wow it’s been a hot minute! 😅

Where do I even begin? First of all, my apologies for neglecting Sew Fun over the past year. I told myself I’d pick things back up in the fall… well, fall came and went. Then so did winter and spring. Now here we are welcoming summer.

There’s only one explanation for this: motherhood. It’s quite the journey, and I owed it to my little babe to be present.

Some of you may know I started my dream job last year, in the field for which I did 5 years of post secondary education. This has been my goal for many, many years and I owe it to myself to continue to excel down this career path.

Unfortunately this means Sew Fun will be put on the back burner for the foreseeable future. I know I’ll come back to sewing one day, but for now it will be my hobby when (or if) I have spare time.

Thank you to the friends that have entrusted me with their projects. I hope to help you again one day. For now, I need to stop and smell the flowers. 🌸

Big news!!

Many of you may already know, but I’m expecting🤰

My little side gig has definitely taken a back seat since landing my dream job and unfortunately I will be closing for any business until at least the fall to bring this little girl into the world!

I will keep you all updated on when I re-open 🥰

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!☘️

Here’s a throwback of some regal pillowcases I made for a customer a few months back. They were a very light green colour so thought they were a festive fit!

More time and effort went in to creating this border than a traditional pillowcase, but the end result was so worth it!

Shortening Snowpants in Stages ❄️

1. Carefully remove cuff from bottom.
2. Measure length to be cut.
3. Cut all the layers.
4. Sew a seam to hold the layers together.
5. Re-apply the cuff.
6. Repeat steps 1-5 on the other pant leg.

Shortening the inner layer with the elastic cuff definitely wasn’t as easy, but got’er done!

Finished just in time for the dusting of snow today in Southwestern Ontario. But let’s hope that’s the last bit of snow because I am ready for spring! 🌷☀️

Happy Family Day! 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

This weekend I finally had a chance to catch up on some much needed sewing time. Sewing and repairing clothes is therapeutic for me, and this long weekend gave me some extra time to unwind with my machine - especially after a big shift in my main career!

The universe works in mysterious ways 💫

Just over a month ago, I was elated to tell you guys that I finally feel confident calling myself a seamstress! It’s been a journey of learning but an amazing one at that.

Then I found out that I received Bronze in the Tailors and Seamstresses category of the Community Votes Sarnia awards!!!! Thank you so much to everyone who voted for this little biz, I am so grateful ❤️💕💗💖

And then the universe sprung one on me… as you may or may not know, I was a dietitian long before I could call myself a seamstress. My dream job in this field came available and lo and behold I GOT IT

I am so so so happy and excited to start this new career journey, but unfortunately that means I will be tapering back (no pun intended) my Sew Fun side hustle.

At this point, I will be open for service on weekends only, and there is already a number of orders in the queue… so much so that I’m booking 6 weeks out right now.

I understand if you have to look elsewhere for your sewing needs, and I hope you all support my decision.

I look forward to the future and helping you in the best way I can! 💙

Thank you so much to everyone who follows this little page. I would say this was my biggest year of sewing growth thus far and it’s all thanks to you guys.

It’s hard to express the gratitude I have when you ask me to sew for you. From mending a hole to replacing a zipper, I am so honoured to be the one you reach out to. I can now proudly say I’m your neighborhood seamstress! 🧵🪡

I have a feeling 2024 is going to be the best year yet. 🥰✨

Here’s some fun throwbacks for ya!

Went through more of my late great grandmother’s sewing stuff and found these gems 😍

It’s crazy to see tags from Woolco and Zellers… and wouldn’t it be nice if these notions were still priced this low 😂

Not to mention the newspaper subscription from 1966. Most of this stuff was made long before I was even born, and it’s so much better quality than what we have now. 👎

Also found an old grocery list in Dee Dee’s handwriting❤️

Pretty pleased with this purse 👜

A friend reached out about replacing the lining on this class leather handbag - see the last ✌️slides for the before shots.

She was in need of some love so I chose this adorable yet durable fabric from my stash and got to work.

Complete with the original logo patch, a new zipper pocket, and phone compartment, she looks brand new!

I also repaired some wear and tear, and overall I think it turned out great! What do you think? 🥰
