So funny story….
Today .sarnia did a drop off of about 50/60 clothing items at The Giving Bench. Initially, we were going to pack everything up at 4, but decided to leave everything so that people could pick at it throughout the week! Tonight, I was driving home around 9pm and thought “I wonder if more has been taken yet?” So I decided to swing by…..the bench was empty….
I went into a bit of panic 😅 Where was everything? Our donations? The books someone else donated? Did the wind blow stuff away (lol)? Did a local business maybe move everything inside not realizing it was okay to stay out there? Did someone play a cruel joke? …..so I called around, and as I was waiting to hear about how everything went wrong, I learned that everything went exactly RIGHT.
A local business (who ended up leaving a pizza too!) attested to many visits to The Giving Bench today! Neighbours of ours who utilized the resource confirmed that so many people in need benefitted from YOUR DONATIONS.
No signs of a cruel joke here, friends. Just evidence of a community well served 🥲 Thank you Corinne Schieman for starting The Giving Bench and making this possible!

COMMUNITY PARTNER HIGHLIGHT
We are so excited to announce a partnership with The Giving Bench, created by our friend Corinne Schieman at Artopia North End Framing Studio !!! This summer, we will have a weekly presence downtown - sometimes you might find us with snacks and water hanging out while you shop, other times we will do a simple drop off of the rack for a few hours - either way, you can expect us!
Without community partnership, this project is simply impossible! We are so grateful for people like Corinne who have paved the way in serving Sarnia with a deep love!

Excited to give you some updates regarding The Rack and where/how you can expect us in the coming weeks/summer months!
We know that we’ve been a little quiet on here - truth is, we’ve had to do some shifting of logistics, and now we’re ready to share with you what that looks like!

Hello everyone!! Tomorrow is our first drop off day- SO EXCITING! If you missed it, this will take place from 4-7 in the Canatara Beach parking lot (first one as you enter from the animal farm entrance). However, I am happy to stay a little later should you not be able to make it by 7pm, please just send me a DM to let me know in advance and we can work something out!!

IF YOU CAN'T MAKE IT: Do not fret! We have a pick up date on the 24th of May where we will come to you! Just send us a DM or email ([email protected]) to pick a time slot (9am-12, 6pm-9pm).

PLEASE NOTE: These are just our initial dates! We will be dropping more pick up and drop off dates soon :)

Looking forward to meeting you as you drop off your donations!!!

PICK UP/DROP OFF SCHEDULE
Hello Sarnia friends! Many of you have been asking, so here it is! May 13th and 24th we are providing an opportunity for you to drop off or schedule a pick up time for your donations! Here is how it will work…
May 13th - DROP OFF ONLY. This will take place at Canatara Park in the first beach parking lot (will post visual of location day of). There will be individuals there to greet you, take your donations and answer any questions you might have! This will take place from 4pm-7pm.
May 24th - PICK UP ONLY. If you rather us pick up your donations, this is the day for you! We will be offering a pick up service. Time slots begin at 9am until 12pm and then resume from 6pm-9pm. If you are interested in scheduling a time, please send us an email at [email protected] **Please note: if we get multiple inquiries outside of Sarnia (Corunna, Camlachie, Sombra, etc,.) we may ask you to be flexible with time slots as we will only be making one trip to these areas that day, time depending on the interest).
As we’ve mentioned before, we are SO excited about the interest so far!!! Yay Sarnia!!!!
NOTE: we ask that you bring your donations in something that you don’t mind getting rid of. Do not bring or leave donations without a bag or box. Garbage bag, used box, reusable bag - whatever works!
