The Menders The Mender has been repairing and altering outdoor gear for over 20 years. By Appointment Only! We love a challenge.

Our experienced staff will tackle just about any sewing or repair that you can bring in. We specialize in outerwear and gear, but will hem your pants, repair your leather jacket, alter your clothing, glue your shoes, and the list goes on. We have a huge selection of zippers and will replace a zipper in jackets, purses, packs, boating or camping gear. We do warranty work for Helly Hansen, Patagonia, The North Face, Marmot, and other outerwear manufacturers.

The Menders is looking for a seamstress/seamster to join our team. We specialize in performing repairs on technical outerwear, apparel, and other outdoor gear.

As the time to get someone up to speed is often lengthy, we are looking for employees who are in love with repairing and who want to join us for the long term.

Sewing experience is an asset, but we are absolutely willing to train the right person who is eager to learn.

We’re looking for someone who:
• Works well in a team
• Communicates clearly and respectfully
• Is dependable and shows up ready to work
• Takes pride in quality workmanship
• Enjoys problem-solving and working with their hands

We are a close-knit team with big personalities and a strong sense of humour. We laugh a lot, we tease each other, and yes—there’s the occasional swearing. It’s all in good fun, and we genuinely enjoy working together.

• Likes being part of a team that feels more like a crew

…you’ll probably fit right in.

Also—you must be okay working around dogs, because they’re part of the shop life here.

We work closely with fabrics and customer garments, so being able to maintain a scent-free
environment is important.

Are you someone who has very little sewing experience or are you a skilled seamstress/seamster. We are willing to train the right person.

An Outdoor Gear Repair Technician at The Menders is responsible for performing repairs on technical outerwear, apparel, and other outdoor gear that meet both high quality and shop productivity standards. This person repairs a broad spectrum of clothing and equipment based on a strong understanding of garment construction and design. The work must be done to exacting standards with sewing skill, experience, and concern for our customers’ needs. As the time to get someone up to speed is often lengthy, we are looking for employees in love with repairing and who will join us for the long term.

Job skills and Qualifications:

• Work as a team member to uphold repair quality, communication, and desired turn-around times
• Perform high quality sewing repairs, modifications, and alterations on high-end outerwear, backpacks, workwear, etc.
• Troubleshoot and solve problems creatively. You think ‘outside the box’ and are willing to learn new things
• Thrives in an environment with a small team and diverse personalities.
• Excellent communication skills; written, and verbal. You have good handwriting and verbal communication.
• Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
• Ability to perform routine tasks for extended periods of time.
• Demonstrates excellent attendance and punctuality. You are reliable.
