Happy Mother's Day to all who are celebrating 🌹 For anyone choosing not to celebrate I am thinking of you as I navigate the holiday as a daughter without a mother and a mother who has lost a child. We're currently on 30 minute evacuation standby. This fire started about 2 km north of the farm and has been heading north and west. Last I heard it was at the Whitemud (Range Road 522) and Township Road 525A to the north, Whitemud and Range Road 532 to the west. We're ok for now but if the wind changes we will have to leave. My child is with their Dad, safe and sound in Leduc, Rob and I are sleeping in shifts to keep an eye out the kitchen window to the north and west.

Alberta is DRY right now. Please be responsible. Stay off your off-road vehicles, don't burn, extinguish smoking materials safely, leave the fireworks in the garage and put the charcoal grill away. Please, please, please don't come out to look and don't park down our roads to stare. Second count if anyone needs to leave and you being in the way isn't helpful. There's lots to see on the news and social media. If you want first hand knowledge you can download the Scanner Media app and listen to Strathcona Fire.

Our website was mistakenly deleted by the hosting company last week and it seems that it will take some time to recover. In the meantime we've been creating some t-shirt designs from vintage/antique photos and works of art! Here's a sample of what is in the works 🖤

All designs will be available on a variety of items including t-shirts, sweatshirts, mugs, tumblers, air fresheners, canvas bags, reusable shopping bags, towels, satin pillowcases, and as prints in vintage frames.

Tomorrow marks the four year anniversary of my coming home. I travelled back to Alberta from British Columbia by VIA Rail Canada , fulfilling a lifelong dream. Traveling in a sleeper car meant fabulous meals in the historic dining car, access to the Skyline car with panoramic windows, and with March being the off-season I enjoyed full access to the luxurious Prestige Park car also with panoramic windows on the upper level and bar service on the main.

Traveling by train through the iconic Canadian Rockies is an experience like no other. Even though we visit the Rockies multiple times each year seeing them from a train car was mesmerising. I spent two days and two nights immersed in Canadian rail history, a truly rejuvenating release from what I was leaving behind.
