I do the odd market (maybe one every two or three years, lol) but I like to do custom items, My favorite is to turn your own leather coat or jacket into a handbag for you to continue to enjoy! unique, professional, top quality

Finally it’s done. The project was a few months in the making. My friend had a letter jacket from high school and approached me to do “something” because she wasn’t ever going to wear it again and it was just hanging in the closet. it was sooo heavy with all the lining they put into it in those days.

We Decided on a convertible tote and she chose the Brooklyn by Sotak patterns. She also chose WPC from a blended Threads pre sale preorder called “Vintage Papers” which took a couple of months to arrive.

I’d mention she is a commercial designer and loves textures, patterns, angles. So we also decided to make the top and bottom trims from canvas denim which was actually a good choice because I don’t think even My TL 18 could have gone through the layers if they were all leather. Also decided to use a grey optipop Tex 45 for all of the top stitching.

It was also a challenge because the jacket had raglan sleeves and had to be pieced to get the squares necessary for the front and back panels. And had to make sure the zipper pockets didn’t cross a piecing seam ! It took two days to properly lay it out before I cut all the leather pieces, and we sent mock ups back and forth,

But….. both of us are soooo pleased with the result. She is getting it tomorrow at the annual “purse party” where it will also be on display. I am so excited.

I’ve included photos of the original jacket, the deconstruction and how it all turned out.
