Does loose loose work?

Once the warmer weather arrives I love an iced coffee and loose linen pants. These ere two of my personal summer favourites. But sometimes I have to consider my top choices as I love an oversized too and I technically am “top heavy” with a very short waist ( yes, we all have certain shapes we need to work with when finding our style) So occasionally, this means wearing a more fitted top with a looser bottom or wearing a more fitted bottom with a looser top.

One of the reasons I did the video this week easy to show how you can mix some linen options into your wardrobe and pair them with other fabrics, which is an option that works well for a lot of people.

So when you say :”I could use some tops”, I might ask, what kind of bottoms you like to wear so that I can provide helpful suggestions that might work best for you.

Happy Saturday!

What’s going to be in the window tomorrow? We got a new polka dot dress & it’s so nice that I expect something else will need to go in the window tomorrow since we only have a few left.

Dresses seem to be the popular choice this week and we have some nice options in the shop.

Stripes for summer. Yes please!

I have a hard time saying no to a good stripe. So, if you also like stripes, Logan & Finley just might be the store for you.

And a stripe that’s made in Portugal, by a company founded in 2007 with a focus on sustainability, supply chain transparency and fair labour standards from 100% GOTS certified, that’s comfortable and goes with everything is the best kind of stripe IMO

Did you hear? Linen is in season.

linen is breathable, quick drying and one of the most sustainable fibres - for how it’s made and how long it lasts. But like any fibre, there are options and the long flax fibres are softer and more durable, but are soft and comfortable to wear.

Here are a few options if you would like your whole outfit to be linen. 100% Linen pants - with a trouser waist and cute button details at the bottom. A knit linen t-shirt and a lightweight sweater that’s a blend of linen and cotton.

“In a world where you can be anything, be kind”

Yesterday, a couple that I really like, popped in to say hi to me. They said some very kind things to another couple who were in, about me, and my heart swelled. It’s hard to be new. Even though I made the choice and it’s a good change for me, change is still hard. And moments where kindness and connection are present are really special.

Just a reminder that being kind is always a good choice. I agree with Clare Pooley’s quote here and sometimes even the simple gesture of offering a coffee, checking in with a text, sharing a kind word all might seem small but they can have really meaningful effects.

I’m so glad to see familiar faces in my new shop, both old and new.

This 100% Linen top is a great fit -little loose in the body without being oversized. It hits right at the top of the hipbone, which makes it a great length to wear untucked. And it’s got some structure. And we have it paired with two of our best selling summer layering pieces.

To tuck or not to tuck; that is the question.

Here’s my point of view. Whether or not you tuck things in should be a choice. Not something you have to do to make something work.

Some styles are designed to be worn untucked and some look better tucked in. And some of us look better with our shirts out and some look better tucked in. And for some a it’s great to have some styling options.

But it doesn’t need to be complicated. If you “have to” tuck something in to make it work and you don’t want to - it’s likely not the top for you. This one, which we also have in sold blue looks great however you choose - I happen to choose untucked for me and on Jen, our model here - she preferred it tucked in.

Are you new? This is a question I get asked a lot and I generally answer, yes, we are new to St Marys, but the business is not new.

Logan & Finley opened in November 2012, with the mission to prove that you could be stylish and sustainable at the same time and you could also be comfortable and stylish at the same time. We have always specialized in natural fibre clothing but for many years also sold lots of single use replacements and lower waste alternatives.

Part of sustainability to us is the usefulness of the product and this William Morris quote is on my inspiration board:

“Have nothing In your home that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful”

The intersection between useful and beautiful is what I am looking for in the product that I select for the shop. And I look forward to helping you find things that are useful to you in your everyday lives.
