I had been struggling with the thought of getting back into the work field and having to spend less and less time with my loved ones. Like most Mothers, we wish we could stay home with our children until they head off to school at the age of 4, but this is not financially possible for most of us. The history behind my custom pillows and blankets started with my daughter three-month-old daughter, L
illian. I was forever struggling to find a small, comfortable pillow to place under my arms while feeding her to ensure her head was comfortable during the long feedings. I was continually looking for cozy blankets to swaddle her in. I have a history in the design field and attended school for interior decorating. Designing is one of my passions, but it is an industry that requires days and evenings and weekends. I wanted to create a business that I could still use all my creative abilities and designing skills, and I could grow in time into something extraordinary. I wanted to teach my kids how to operate and maintain a small business together and see that you can develop a business you love and can still make time for your family. Teaching my children responsibilities and always follow their goals and aspirations is very important to me. I wanted them to understand work doesn't always suffer from Monday to Friday, the 9 to 5 grind. You can find a job to thrive and succeed at and love every instant of it. To find something you genuinely enjoy doing and fall in love with it! Now that my daughter is older, my creative side was itching to create something different, so I did. I started to make and design large cozy blankets and tutus for kids. This passion for creating handmade items has been a hobby of mine for years, and I love what I'm doing and love making items for others. I have been growing Stitch It Mom over the years, and I think it's pretty neat seeing all the new ideas I have come up with. From pillows to cozy blankets to making tutus with all the sparkles and fluff and matching all the beautiful tutus with accessories from necklaces, headbands and hair clips. Every new item I share and sell has just made my crafting/hobby business more enjoyable. Now, here I am, 2021, and my daughter is now seven. I'm making scented rice heating pads. I started making them for myself and my daughter as a fun craft! I then decided it would be perfect for sharing on my Stitch It Mom page. We could all use some extra warmth on our shoulders or feet! Aromatherapy is proven to help ease stress and anxiety and provide comfortโsomething we all might need in our daily life, given our way of life during the last year. My daughter inspired me to create Stitch It Mom! From pillows, blankets, tutus, accessories and heated rice hearts/butterflies. I can't wait to see what is next for us. I hope your children will love them just as much as mine. My company is TSSA approved. Much love, Stitch It Mom aks Allison. :)
