I don’t think I’ve ever introduced myself on any of my business pages so if you don’t know me 😄..
Hello!!
My name’s Sashae quilt. I’m from Ulkatcho First Nation located in Anahim lake BC but grew up 15-20 min away in Nimpo lake bc known as fish trap. I’ve lived in Kamloops then moved to Kelowna and now reside in Surrey BC. I have 2 amazing children and a husband who have helped inspire and motivate me throughout the past 5 years.
My mom is Betty Cahoose from Ulkatcho First Nation but grew up in Nimpo lake. Ulkatcho First Nations is home of Dakelh people “Carrier”. My dad is Barry Quilt from Yunesit’in First Nation known as Stone First Nation which is also know as Tsilhqot’in nation.
I started full time sewing 5 years ago after having my daughter. Since then I’ve also taught my mom to bead. My mother and I work together to create traditional sewn and beaded items. My whole family all play a part in our small business and I’m forever grateful for everyone. A lot of my inspiration comes from my kids, nieces and nephews and also being able to witness my late ut’soo hand sew a majority of her clothes which inspired me to sew as well. I sew mainly for them but have also been motivated by other mothers and family who aren’t able to fully afford traditional items.
As a young mom building a home based business my goal is to create traditional items for mothers and families within their personal budgets. I definitely have a soft heart for other mothers especially family’s who are struggling in today’s society. Although I have a variety of items I generally sell at events ranging in prices ….I do take orders based on what you can pay which has helped out a lot of mothers & families 😊♥️. I also offer payment plans on any of my items which has helped. I try to make an arrange of items that fit everyone’s budget especially since I started sewing mainly after having my daughter.
I absolutely love what I do and I’m grateful I have gotten to work with my own nation & schools around the low mainland to bring workshops to families/ students/ and youth. I love seeing the excitement from everyone after a workshop or even after I’ve done an order. I’m grateful that I get to help others and also provide option for everyone.
I try my best to let everyone know the option I have for payments but don’t be shy to send me a message if you’re interested in Payments for any of my items or a pay what you can on orders😊. My first couple questions are always 1. What’s is your budget and 2. Would you prefer payments? And just from these 2 questions it makes it so much easier especially if your worried about the cost ♥️.
Both my husband and I have enjoyed getting to know customer and other vendors throughout the years. I’m generally shy and awkward at first … he’s a bit more talkative than I am…..but once you get to know us we are very bubbly and talkative😂. I Hope to make more friend in the coming years so don’t be shy to come say hi 👋.
I’m proud that Im able to offer traditional items at affordable prices so families, friends, and communities can enjoy and share them every day. Thank you for supporting my small business. I appreciate all the love I get from friend, family and customers.
I also love to support other artist !! We often buy from other vendor or I also love to do trades 🫶🏽 I did a trade during JANT and she was so happy I agreed. If you ever want to trade let me know because I rarely say no 😄.
