My mom gifted me a fun skein of handdyed cotton for Christmas. It would be perfect for washcloths, but I don't really end up using them. I started crocheting a stretchy market bag, but I frogged it when I admitted to myself that I probably wouldn't use that, either. What do I use? Pouches! I made a sturdy bottom by crocheting some grey cotton from my leftovers, then picked up stitches and knit the top half in the pretty handdyed yarn, and sewed in a zipper. I already have a new sock design WIP living in it ☺️ The way the colours pooled into stripes is really interesting! What should I make with the leftovers?

I didn't know courderoy was so challenging to sew! Good thing I bought enough for a whole collection in 3 colours 🫠 It'll be fine, it's just very messy and takes a bit longer, but how CUTE is this bag?!

If you're a Canadian knitter or crocheter looking for a small project bag, I still have a few drawstring and zippered options left over from my Stripes, Checks & Plaids collection. They make great gifts, too! 🎁

I haven't made any progress on the other projects I've shared recently because I've been spending my knitting time working exclusively on this pretty top. I just really want to wear it! I was going to finish knitting the body first and then reward myself with the pretty crochet details, but I also wanted to be able to try it on to check the length before binding off the body, so I skipped ahead. Only a few inches left to knit on the body, then the cap sleeves, and we're done!

We worked on a very different creative project this week: taking our home out of the 1990s πŸ˜‰ When we moved in almost 2 years ago, this house had green carpet and a different wall colour in every room, which some of you quite liked, but it didn't feel like us. The carpet, even though it had been cleaned, was inevitably still full of 20+ years of dust, allergens, and stains from the previous owners' dogs, and my allergic husband and daughter could FEEL it 🀧 Ripping it out and installing luxury vinyl tile and planks throughout was very satisfying πŸ‘Œ

Saving up bit by bit to slowly put our own stamp on this place is a lot of work, but it's been so rewarding! What we've done won't be everyone's taste, but that's what's so fun about people, we all like what we like for so many reasons.

There will always be more to do (countertops/backsplash, safety improvements to the deck, updating a couple of doors, painting exterior trim/gutters), but everything big and small that we've freshened up so far (updating window blinds throughout, putting the gardens back in, updating doorknobs, pulls, light fixtures, toilets and vent covers, painting and new flooring in every room, adding closets to two rooms) feels incredibly good!

The biggest change was my husband's office in the last photo! 🀯

I finished knitting this cardigan at the beginning of the month and I've been very much enjoying wearing it! It kept me very comfortable on today's chilly walk when everyone else was shivering.

The details on this sweater make it feel very classic and professional. I also love the sweet bronze buttons I found in my button stash. I opted for a double knit button band instead of the ribbed one and included the details in my Ravelry project page notes.
