There’s a new girl at The Empty Bobbin, and she’s already taken her job as official greeter VERY seriously. 😉

Meet Fat Quarter Frannie, our new porch goose! She’ll be hanging out at the shop, welcoming everyone who comes through the door and, of course, showing off her ever-growing wardrobe. 👗🧵

With a name like Fat Quarter Frannie, she was clearly meant for a quilt shop.

Today is the start of the ‘ber months 🍂

To be honest I love all the seasons, but what gets me excited with the start of each new season is the return of things that is unique to it. A new season feels refreshing, the start of something new, the return of favorites, and always something to look forward to. Wish you all the best during the ‘ber months 😉

We’re testing something for our upcoming fall quilt retreat and hope to share it with all the ladies who will be coming for the weekend. 😉And of course the Stripology ruler helped make these flying geese quickly and precisely. Stay tuned to see what these flying geese become.

Falling in love with the Acorn Easy Press Pen ❤️

✨New in the shop✨

We now carry Acorn Easy Press Fabric Treatment products. I met Shelley and Bernie Tobisch at Quilt Canada (crazy we haven’t crossed paths sooner) and they gave me a combo pack to test out and I used it on my Casserole Quilt that was stitched up with a quilting cottons and a woven cotton for the background fabric. The fabric treatment is non-toxic and prevents uneven shrinking, strengthens fibres, and reduces stretching. My piecing was so much better with the mixed fabrics with the use of the Easy Press! I especially loved using the fabric treatment in their Easy Press Pen!

✨IN THE MAKING MONDAY✨

I made these pants at the beginning of summer and they quickly became my favorite to wear! They are so comfortable and the fit is 👌They were so easy to stitch up and no need for a serger as they have a French seam. These are the Pomona Pant by Anna Allen Sewing Patterns. I chose the Speckled cotton linen blend by Ruby Star Society. The fabric is the perfect weight and washes up nicely. We all need a pair of these 😉
