Extremely grateful for the opportunity to give back. The Ma'kit's Doll shirts were given so much love and education about the impacts of institutions meant to erase our identity. It was beyond special to see the children wearing these garments and realizing they are our future, they are the knowledge keepers for the generations to come. A child's imagination is so special, and nobody not even authoritative figures can take that away from them.
I want to take the time to give a special thanks to Ma'kit's daughters
Rose Sylliboy, Jennifer Poulette, and Charlotte Sylliboy for allowing me to share their mother's story through art, Shianne Gould - Mi'kmaq Artist for taking on the responsibility of bringing the vision to life, and she did it perfectly. Jennifer Ménard-Shand for continuing to mentor me and give me advice on how to execute my plans. My community Pictou Landing First Nation for supporting Drip Avenue 902 Clothing, and MacSween's Silkscreening & Signs for printing the garments and meeting the deadlines provided.
Last but not least, every single person who took time out of their day to purchase a T-shirt.
Together we have made donations to Pictou Landing First Nation Elementary School, and the Mawita'mk Society.
Wela'lioq Everybody! Enjoy your weekend
