Hi there!
My name is Boluwatife [Bow-lou-wah-tee-feh] and I am the creator behind Ashanti Avenue.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I am currently 19 years old as well as a first-year at UofT. I have always loved creating things and in 7th grade, I saw my first ever sewing tutorial and started making clothing pieces with just a sewing needle and thread because, at the time, I didn't have a sewing machine. Once I got my first ever sewing machine off Kijiji and the rest is history.

Ashanti Avenue began as a passion project for me. I wanted to be able to create pieces that are of high quality and inclusive to all hair types. So whether you have coily 4c hair like mine or fine straight hair, you can find the perfect accessory for you.

As someone who is also very passionate about environmental advocacy, sustainability is also a very important part of my business. Each piece is designed to last seasons and years and I pride myself on creating beautiful pieces with stunning textiles that are of high quality and handmade with intention. Every Ashanti Avenue product is made in small batches with attention to every detail. This ensures that I'm only producing what is needed. This aims to move away from fast fashion to more thoughtful purchases. I source most of my materials from the Toronto Fashion District, supporting many locally-owned small businesses!

Ashanti Avenue was created for the everyday women, who are constantly striving to evolve and break barriers.

Hi there, my name is Boluwatife [Bow-lou-wah-tee-feh] and I am the designer behind Ashanti Avenue. I have always loved creating and making things- from baking to sewing. I have always found them to be a creative outlet while providing a sense of fulfillment and achievement. At the age of 13 I came across a sewing tutorial on Youtube and the rest is history. Ashanti Avenue was birth as an outlet for me to be creative and share with you something I truly love doing.

Ashanti Avenue is named after one of the most powerful empires in located in modern day Ghana. A long time ago, the French had named the people Ashanti because they were undefeatable. Along with that, the name also means divine and peace; which is what my brand to represents. I can only hope that one day we all be able to achieve such state of mind as that is what I strive towards everyday.
