Slide to see the progress 😏➡️

This was my third public art opportunity I participated in this Summer, thanks to Bellydancer based in Toronto, Canada and Friends of Kensington Market and it was so much fun!

Pulled a long day coming off of night shift in the hot ass sun but it was well worth it 😅

This 4' x 6' piece is titled, “Unbecoming” and it's about the microaggressions and limiting messages young Black girls are often handed as they move through the world and the freedom that comes when we decide we don't have to carry them.

This summer has been busy, productive, creative, and super fulfilling. Feeling grateful for every opportunity to take my work beyond the canvas and into the community.

Had the pleasure of participating in this year's Black Women Paint event at Kensington Market. Finished this piece in an afternoon, in the street and in the heat but the breeze was nice 👌🏾

Created alongside some talented artists, met some wonderful members of the community and had some interesting conversations about my work, life and other musings.

It was truly a wonderful experience and grateful for the opportunity.

Thank you to Friends of Kensington Market StreetARToronto Bellydancer based in Toronto, Canada Serena Purdy NDP, our artist mentor Allison (can't tag 'em 🥲) and all the volunteers for putting on this amazing event.

Continuing with the tradition of making handmade birthday cards featuring characters eating cake for Will Tha Artist | Singer-Songwriter/Composer 🥀, I went with Afro Samurai this year. 😌🍰

I didn't get a chance to paint it on a small canvas before his birthday, so for now it lives as a digital illustration.
