It’s been a while since I got back to making for 💵. Happy to have had my first real project be for a repeat customer.
Whipped up this dog sweater for the sweet Bailey 🐶 who I presume was named for the liquor as this pattern was custom shamrocked just for him 😉☘️

My latest destressing activity has been making quilt square pincushions with my scrap fabric.
I buy so many different styles of fabric for my masks, it’s a really fun exercise to pair up colours and patterns that are pleasing to the eye 😍

Have you been bit by the Terrazzo bug yet?
Terrazzo is a composite material made of poured or pre-cast concrete, flecked with chips of marble or other coloured stone/glass. It's originally a Vinecian technique created to use the discarded chips from marble slabs and imbed them into concrete mixtures. Cool right?
It's had a resurgence in the artistic community as an intentionally created material style, and is frequently poured into shapes such as planters, side dishes, candle holders, and more! While it was originally earthen in tone, the modern interpretations are taking super fun colours and making come really beautiful pieces.
This fabric caught my eye right away, it's a terrazzo pattern as well! Have fun while staying safe and get one of these babies today :)

Why does an artist create? 🎨👩🏼‍🎨
There isn't a single answer to this question, but I dare to offer the hypothesis that makers become restless. With life, the skills they currently possess, the projects they're currently working on, the jobs they've already committed to; sometimes it's all just too banal.
If you're a maker, what drives you?
Do you like to stay within your style and medium, or are you restless like me?
As a result of this frequent sensation I change gears often, and dive completely into whichever new outlet I adopt.
This is an example of one such obsession that has been currently tabled while I explore other things.
I am Bryanna: the sewist, painter, knitter, crocheter, quilter, maker, artist. Make what makes your heart happy :)

Necessity being the mother of invention has never felt like a truer quote to me than when I look at my sewing journey. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I took on the steep learning curve of teaching myself to sew mid-pandemic -so I could make myself some fitted face masks. Now, I sell them as a part time job, as well as sew my own clothes and make some really fun quilted pincushions. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I don't know what I'd do with my spare time if I didn't have access to my machine. And I look at that as a blessing :) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
My grandmother (mémère) was a seamstress and taught home-ec for a number of years. I grew up knowing that her visits would be accompanied by afternoons hearing the whirring of the sewing machine in the dining room mending our clothes, making bedspreads and window coverings, or sewing us halloween costumes. Knowing that I can now carry the love of sewing into my present and future brings me closer to my memories of this amazing woman, and I'm just so dog-gone grateful! Love you Mémère, hoping I'm making you proud :)

⁉️ Are your kids still wearing masks that "just" fit or don't stay in place while they're talking and playing with friends?
