Now that I have your attention, I’d like to direct it to the humanitarian crisis happing in Kabul, Afghanistan right now. The Taliban took back control of Afghanistan within a week and, now, million need aid and many are trying to flee the country because they do not want to live under Taliban rule.

I urge you to read more about this issue on pages better educated on this crisis than myself including and follow pages trying to support Afghanistan during this crisis like and .binazir.ll.

The fabric used to make this white blouse was thrifted. It was the very first fabric I bought for this line. I immediately loved it because of the rose detailing, but when I felt it, it was one of the softest fabrics I’ve ever felt. This was also the first blouse I designed. I was so nervous about how it was going to turn out but when I saw it, it gave me a lot of hope for Jeo. It is so special to me and I’m so happy I made the first one in my size because I’ll be treasuring it for years.🌹❤️

Made for each other 💙🤍

For this saree blouse I used raw silk, 100% pure silk that avoids the harmful toxins used for conventional silk during its processing. This blouse, like all of the blouses you’ll see on this page, is lined with organic cotton broadcloth. Did you know that organic cotton broadcloth lining is the softest sustainable lining fabric out there?! It’s so comfortable it will be a staple for Jeo!

This blouse looks amazing with it’s matching saree but also looks amazingg with white jeans, shorts, or skirts.

I’ve paired this gorgeous blouse with a saree made of soybean & eucalyptus cotton. Plant-based cottons need significantly less water for their production vs. conventional cotton, and keep clothing looking brand new for years! With a raw silk trim, this set is made for each other 💙🤍

Only 1 set available 🤭 DM if you’re interested! Made to your measurements.

You may have already heard that the term “sustainability” isn’t very well defined. That’s something a lot of companies take advantage of.

One of the easiest ways to greenwash is by saying clothing is “handmade.” I’ve noticed that this is especially the case for South Asian fashion.🥻😬 However, ALL clothing is handmade. That is not the problem. The problem lies in…

Where the clothing is made: Is it outsourced to countries with looser labour laws, allowing companies to exploit garment workers?
Who is making the clothing: Is it children? Is it young women?
Are they being paid fairly: Are they being paid a living wage? Are they silenced when they ask for higher wages (i.e., Cambodian and Bangladeshi garment workers, Indian cotton farmers, etc.)?
Are the makers treated with respect? Dignity? Kindness? Compassion?

“Handmade” is too broad to be considered enough! ❎

Share this to help clarify the meaning of sustainability just a little bit. 🌳🌿

We need support from governments across the world in order to solve the eco and social issues perpetuated by the fashion industry.

In order to garner enough support for this, we as consumers need to point out the issues with the fashion industry.

While governments and the industry carry the responsibility to listen and take further action, in this way and more, we have the power to drive industry-wide and societal change by standing up for our planet and its animals, including us, with small choices made every day.

Hello, it’s me! 💛

Yellow isn’t my color, but even I couldn’t say no to showing off these beautifully bright pieces on myself. This upcycled blouse comes with gorgeous detailing. I made sure to give this blouse a smooth v-cut neckline, resembling the shape of bananas – what this pair’s saree is made from! The banana cotton white saree also has its own detailing, little Swedish dots to amp up the look 🤍

This blouse is lined with white organic cotton broadcloth for extra comfort and looks FAB with your favorite blue jeans. Interested in getting your hands on these before the launch? DM me! Made to your measurements.

Going bananas for this bright blouse made from upcycled fabric found at a thrift store, paired with a white saree made from literal banana peels – yes, you read that correctly!

By utilizing the by-products of banana trees, specifically banana stems and peels, the making of banana fibers promotes and uses a zero-waste process. Banana cotton is spun, dyed, and woven by artisans who have passed down this time-intensive skills for generations. Non-GMO banana cotton packs in the same reliability and quality as cotton, with a sheen akin to silk without the negative impacts to us, the farmers and artisans who work with it, animals, and our planet. It’s one of the strongest fibers in the world!

My next post will kick off the line I’ve been working on for months. As someone who’s doing a PhD in Neuroscience, with a focus on environmental toxins, I never thought my journey would lead me to creating my own indo-western clothing line.

But, I got tired of my South Asian community not taking climate change seriously enough. And what’s the best way to get us talking? Food, Bollywood and clothing - and trust me when I say, I do not have the cooking skills needed to be a chef, nor the dance talent needed for Bollywood. 😂

Today, I want to make some brand promises.
(1) I call this brand Jeo, which translates to live in Hindi, my native tongue, because it is for the environment. I refuse to only put out clothing without adding knowledge of how we can all be advocates for sustainability in the many realms of our lives.
(2) Outside of eco sustainability, social sustainability is top priority. One of my struggles so far has been balancing the costs and prices of my pieces. One way to do this was using cheaper fabrics, the other was paying my seamstress less - neither was an option for this line.

Jeo is not perfect. I wish I could’ve traced the energy consumption for all of the fabrics, I wish I could’ve traced the dyes used to dye each of the fabrics. However, this is the problem with the fashion industry today - it’s nearly impossible to get all of this information. But, I will not accept that. Now that I am starting to build relationships with my suppliers, they will be asked even more questions than the first round (and trust me when I say I pretty much interrogated them already). 😅😂

I hope that this line shows that if a small business like me can make actionable changes, big businesses have no excuse.
