Liliane Santana, Valquíria Silva & Katia Xavier were teenagers in January 1996 when they were walking home through a residential area of Varginha, Brazil.

As they passed near a vacant lot, both noticed something out of place.
Among the vegetation, they saw a figure crouched low and motionless. At first, they thought it might be a person. As they got closer, they realized it was not.

They described a small being with dark or brown skin, an oversized head, large red eyes, and a hunched posture. One detail stood out to both of them: a strong, penetrating odor, difficult to compare to anything familiar.

The encounter lasted only seconds, but the impact was immediate.
The girls fled in panic, crying and visibly shaken.

When Liliane arrived home, her mother witnessed the aftermath firsthand.
She did not hear a calm or structured story. She saw a daughter terrified, trembling, and struggling to speak, clearly affected by something she could not process.

Concerned, Liliane’s mother decided to accompany the girls back to the site of the encounter. She did not go as an investigator or a curious observer, but as a mother trying to understand what had caused such fear.

At the vacant lot, she did not see any creature.
But she noticed something deeply unsettling.

According to her testimony, the same strange, strong odor the girls had described was still present. An unusual smell she could not attribute to animals, garbage, or any obvious environmental cause.

For her, this detail was key.
She could not confirm what her daughter saw, but she felt something abnormal had been there.

In the days that followed, she observed clear changes in her daughter’s behavior: persistent fear, anxiety, and emotional distress that did not fade quickly. To her, the experience was neither an invention nor a fleeting misunderstanding.

Decades later, neither Liliane, Valquíria nor Katia has altered their account.
No new dramatic details were added. No uncomfortable details were removed.

When they reappeared publicly, along with the mother’s testimony, they did not present a new version of events. They presented the same story they told from the very beginning.

Last month, the three women provided their testimony remotely during a public hearing organized by filmmaker James Fox, where key witnesses of the Varginha case were invited to speak on record. Appearing together via an online call, Liliane Santana, Valquíria Silva, and Katia Xavier recounted the events once again as adults, describing what they personally saw and experienced in January 1996 from their own perspectives.

They did not speculate about the nature of the being, nor did they attempt to reinterpret the encounter through new theories. Instead, they focused on the details that had remained consistent since their teenage years — the location, the appearance, the odor, and the fear that followed.

Nearly three decades later, the story they shared remotely was the same story they had told since the beginning.

In the summer of 2012, while stationed at Langley Air Force Base in Virginia, U.S. Air Force intelligence specialist Dylan Borland experienced something that would follow him for the rest of his life. Borland wasn’t a random observer. He was a Geospatial Intelligence Analyst, trained to recognize and classify every known aircraft, satellite, and aerial signature.

One quiet night around 1:30 a.m., near the NASA hangar at Langley, he noticed a distant white light in the sky. At first, he assumed it was a plane. But as it drifted closer, the light grew, not brighter, but broader, and suddenly, the outline of something enormous came into view above him. Hovering just a hundred feet over the ground was a massive black triangle, at least a hundred feet wide on each side. Its surface shimmered subtly, not metallic, more like it was fluid, alive, shifting as though made from something beyond any known material. Borland stood beneath it, frozen.

He later said it emitted no sound, no wind, and no vibration. The night was utterly still, yet something immense hovered just above him. When he looked back up, he saw three white lights, one at each corner of the craft, and a faint fourth glow in the center. Then, without warning, it moved. The triangle shot upward in complete silence, rising from treetop height to the altitude of a commercial jet in seconds. There was no sonic boom, no turbulence, not even a ripple in the air. It was simply gone. In his later testimony before Congress, Borland said: “I’ve seen aircraft from every angle imaginable. Nothing behaves like that.”

More than a decade later, no official explanation exists but Dylan Borland’s story adds to a growing list of military witnesses describing something that defies all known technology and continues to raise the same question that echoes through every UAP hearing:

The '1561 Celestial Phenomenon Over Nuremberg' refers to a mass sighting of an aerial phenomenon over the city of Nuremberg, Germany, on April 14, 1561. This event was documented in a broadsheet news pamphlet by Hans Glaser later that month. The broadsheet describes an event where residents of Nuremberg saw what appeared to be an aerial battle, followed by the appearance of a large black triangular object and then a large crash outside of the city. The sky was reportedly filled with various shapes and objects including crosses, spheres, and tubes among others, which moved erratically overhead.

The broadsheet contains a woodcut engraving and a description of the event, which has been interpreted in many ways over the years. During the time of the event, it was perceived as a religious or supernatural sign, often interpreted within the framework of 'sky battles' and divine omens.

In modern times, the phenomenon is often cited in discussions of unidentified flying objects (UFOs). Some UFO enthusiasts consider it one of the earliest documented instances of a mass UFO sighting, although there are also skeptical interpretations suggesting these were just atmospheric optical phenomena exacerbated by religious interpretations.
