Who’s up for a circularity challenge? We recently partnered with to figure out how to divert a significant amount of lumber from the landfill. The cladding on this 40-storey Multiplex project is sent to site on custom skids that have no planned future use by the supplier. At this rate, the skids fill up to two 40-yard bins per day. Multiplex reached out to us because they care about diverting waste from the landfill. The problem is these 2x4s are nailed together in pairs so how can they be reused? We wanted to hear from our fellow designers, builders, and makers. What would you use them for? Lengths vary, from 60 inches to 10 feet.

If a house is deconstructed and not posted on Instagram… did it even happen?

Apparently not. But fear not! our silence hasn’t been for lack of action, just an excess of roofs to remove and wood to stack.

Consider this the mid summer recap: Dundas, Condor, Wardlaw, Kingsbury, Brittania, we’ve been everywhere man, salvaging everything. More chaos (and photos) to come. 🧱🪚💅

These bricks have been holding this house down since the turn of the last century. A real brick house, if you know what we mean. Still in perfect shape and now headed to to start their next chapter. Lumber’s coming soon… stay tuned.

Quick site visit to our friends at , always a treat, they’ve got the coolest s**t. We’re scouting salvaged stone and brick for a rubble wall to frame our new rain garden. Scroll to the end for some rubble wall inspo (or to see what we’re talking about :) we’re loving the patchwork, quilt-like quality of these walls. Hit up if you’re in need of salvaged stone, they’ve got the best inventory in Toronto.

Little extra work, can go a long way. When recycled correctly, drywall is infinitely recyclable. Just needs to be kept separate from other material streams. Here’s a step-by-step of our drywall recycling process: Separate out drywall, load it on the truck, pack it to the top (within weight limit, don’t worry!), head to one of the only drywall recycling centers in Ontario, unload, drive off into the dust. Hit us up for more hot tips. Moved this to the grid since everyone was loving the story.

Our warehouse was broken into. Tools and materials were stolen, locks were superglued, and the place was torn apart. We’re a small team trying to do good, and this kind of vandalism hits hard, not just financially, but emotionally.

They took one of our first tools: a Makita wire brush sander that’s been with us since day one. Antique brass k***s, gear we rely on—it’s all gone.

To the person who did this: you left behind a notebook with a list of other spots and some bad drawings. Looks like you’re planning more. Way to go sticky bandit.

To our community: please keep an eye out. If you spot any of our tools or hear something, let us know. We’re in this for the long haul, but damn—it’s a tough blow.

Salvage and decon work is not a gold rush. It’s a grind. A love letter to the materials and the future they deserve.

Excited to kick off our Morse Street project! We’re carefully deconstructing and salvaging three homes from the 1870s, ensuring that their historic details—like original trim, doors, and millwork—are either preserved in place or meticulously harvested for reuse.

Morse Street has a deep history in Toronto’s Leslieville neighborhood, with homes dating back to the late 19th century when the area was a thriving industrial hub. We’re proud to be working alongside , and to give these materials a second life and keep this rich history alive.

Stay tuned as we share more about what we uncover!

Tucked away off Ossington, this charming 1930s home has been quietly standing through decades of change. It’s the kind of place where time has left its mark in the most beautiful way.

In the coming weeks, we’ll be carefully deconstructing this home, ensuring its character isn’t lost to the landfill. Check out for the stunning vintage light fixtures to retro finishes, we’ll be harvesting materials so they can live on in new spaces and new stories.

Honoring the past, building for the future—one piece at a time. Stay tuned for the treasures we uncover.
