Aluminum woven wire mesh is made by weaving wire together on a loom much like fabric is woven. Aluminum is a lightweight, corrosion-resistant and cost-effective material. Woven right here at our Toronto location we offer openings of 2” x 2”, 1.5” x 1.5”, 1” x 1”, 3/4” x 3/4” and 1/2” x 1/2”. Sheets are typically 4’ x 8’ but we do offer custom widths and lengths. Please contact us for further information on any of our products.

Wire mesh is widely used in archaeology for soil sifters that separate artifacts from excavated earth. Because these screens face heavy use and exposure to the elements, galvanized and stainless steel meshes are preferred for their corrosion resistance. Ferrier Wire recommends woven wire mesh over welded mesh, as welded joints can break under stress and allow valuable artifacts to pass through.
The company offers two meshes specifically for archaeological sifting: a galvanized 4 Γ— 4 woven mesh with 0.215-inch openings for general artifact recovery, and a finer 8 Γ— 8 stainless steel mesh with 0.108-inch openings for smaller finds. Both are durable, reliable, and designed to withstand demanding sifting applications. Please contact us if you have any further questions about our mesh and its applications in archaeology.

Wire mesh, perforated and expanded (Ampliato) metal are commonly used for facades and privacy screens. All offer aesthetic benefits as well as structural advantages such as weight and strength. Shown above are some examples of metal products used as decorative facades. The material adds texture and depth to the exterior of buildings. Ferrier Wire stocks ampliato (expanded) patterns in a variety of materials including stainless steel, aluminum and mild steel.
