I am creative entrepreneur and the head of my brand Dee Silkie. After working for the largest E-Learning company in the world (for 4+ years) I realized that although I loved selling and marketing, I was more passionate about art then I was about online learning. After learning a lot from corporate life, and biding my time between an office job and my side hustle, I decided to leave my full-time em
ployer in my hometown Fredericton, New Brunswick. In the Fall of 2017 I moved to Toronto where I now work on my business full-time. Much of my past work has started as hand-dyed or painted pieces of 100% silk habotai. From there, I put together and lead small creative teams that focus on creating a product, organizing an event or producing high end images (which will usually highlight the silk product). The end result shows up for sale (most likely on the Dee Silkie website), in creative content such as blog posts, social media campaigns or for other marketing purposes. Throughout these processes I have been fortunate enough to collaborate with creative leaders in the industry located all over North America. Some of these industry leaders include: So You Think You Can Dance's Nicole Kirkland, Wear Your Label, and Dance Moms' Sarah Hunt. It is also important for the Dee Silkie brand to give back to the community. In October 2017 I lead a team which organized a fashion show, Transition, at Picaroons Brewery (Fredericton, NB). We were able to raise over $1200.00 for Women In Transition Housing.
