Archival Toronto is proud to present the Toronto premiere of The Designer. Directed by Gonzalo Hergueta, this film is a haunting and visceral look at one of fashion’s most polarizing and brilliant provocateurs: Miguel Adrover.

Hailed by Anna Wintour and The New York Times in the early 2000s as the saviour of American fashion, Adrover famously upended the industry with a raw commitment to sustainability and unbound creativity, long before it was a buzzword. This documentary follows his meteoric rise, his sudden “erasure” from the fashion calendar, and his current life of creative isolation in Mallorca.

Saturdays are for The Showroom!

We’re officially opening our doors for walk-ins every Saturday from 12 - 5 PM. No appointments, no pressure. Just come by, browse the racks, and chat with us. If you want the space to yourself, you can still book a private appointment for any other day of the week.

We’re keeping things fresh with new arrivals hitting the floor every other week. We aim for a mix of pieces that are actually wearable, your daily staples, and archival pieces meant to be collected, worn and coveted.

Whether you’re looking for a quick $50 pick-up or a piece of fashion history, we’ve got you. From ‘90s Gaultier and Westwood to verified Haute Couture, runway samples, and celebrity-owned garments you won’t see anywhere else.

Find us at 5 Adrian Ave, Unit 216. See you soon!

Miguel Adrover and Lee McQueen both had a restless energy. In London, they moved in the same circles, and that connection stayed with Miguel when he moved to New York.

When Miguel opened Horn on East 9th Street, it became a place to experiment. McQueen would bring over bags of studio scraps, the leftover pieces from his own work, and Miguel would turn them into something new in the back of the shop where he lived. This resourcefulness was more than just a way to save money; it was a way to push back against the polished, corporate fashion of the ‘90s.

He used those cast-offs and street finds to create a new style of deconstruction. That raw, scrappy approach inspired the designers and collectors who shape the industry today.

We are excited to host the Canadian premiere of The Designer is Dead, the story of Miguel Adrover.

Miguel Adrover moved to London in the 1980s and became part of the creative circles around Leigh Bowery and Alexander McQueen. When he opened Horn on East 9th Street, the shop was also his home. It became a place for radical exchange, where designers like McQueen, Sebastian Pons, and the AsFour collective gathered and sold unique showpieces.

From the beginning, Miguel took a different approach, inspiring the creatives who shaped modern fashion. His story needs to be told.
