Watchfinder was founded on the belief that purchasing a beautiful, prestigious timepiece should be more than just a transaction. It should be an experience, and a seamless one at that. When Sean Shirzadi founded Watchfinder in 1999, he rooted his business on the value that owning a luxury watch represents an appreciation of quality, fashion, and excellence. That’s why he chose to situate his first

showroom in the dynamic Yorkville neighbourhood, an enclave of Toronto that indulges in upscale charm. With over 15 years of experience, Sean is recognized as an expert in contemporary watches and vintage timepieces such as Cartier, Rolex, and Patek Philippe. With the expertise of his professional watchmakers and sales personnel, Sean always continues to explore new styles and items to keep up with what is current and beautiful in the world of timepieces. In addition to our brands of fine watches, we also offer the possibility of trading, direct selling, and consignment, which means we always have a rotating selection of excellent and certified pre-owned pieces priced with affordability in mind. At Watchfinder, our values include authenticity, expertise, and above all, excellence. We live by the goal of delivering an enjoyable experience for all of our clients. Every day we are inspired by the intricacies and elegance of the watches and jewellery we carry, and we want our clients to feel the same way.

The untold story behind Watchfinder Canada.

Richemont Group acquired Watchfinder in the UK and later challenged us over the Watchfinder name in Canada. What followed was a serious battle over branding, trademarks, domains, and the right to operate under a name we had spent years building.

We stood our ground and protected our right to use Watchfinder in Canada.

Why does that matter? Because Canada has become a massive market for pre-owned luxury watches, and a strong brand name can be worth far more than people realize.

This video tells the story from my side—what happened, what I learned, and why protecting your brand from day one is one of the most important things an entrepreneur can do.

You don’t have to be the best at everything. You need to understand your strengths, find the right business partner who complements them, and put the right manager in place to handle the areas where you’re not strongest.

A great idea can start a business. The right people, systems, leadership, and persistence are what turn it into an empire.

What happens in Miami, LA, or Las Vegas… sometimes needs to stay there. 😂⌚

Once or twice every year, we get that call: a customer went away, partied a little too hard, and somehow came home without their watch.

The problem? Sometimes that watch was an anniversary present, wedding gift, or a very special gift from someone who’s definitely going to notice. 😳

That’s when Watchfinder Canada gets the mission: find the EXACT same watch and make it like nothing ever happened.

We don’t just replace watches… sometimes we save marriages and relationships too. 😂

My journey into the watch world started when I was just 9 years old with a Casio calculator watch. I had no idea that one watch would spark a lifelong passion.

As I got older, I began selling leather goods. At 17, I bought a fake watch at a flea market, thinking it was something special. That experience taught me an important lesson about authenticity and value.

Years later, I inherited a few luxury watches through a business deal. The craftsmanship, history, and engineering fascinated me—and from that moment on, I was hooked.

Today, that passion has grown into Watchfinder Canada, helping collectors around the world buy, sell, and discover incredible timepieces.

The rest is history.

I finally walked into one of those malls. Nothing but replicas.
I asked the dealer how many he had. I guessed a thousand. He said five thousand — then started pulling out boxes. Rolex. AP. Patek. Box after box.
I handle watches all day, so most of these were an easy tell. Not triple-A. The Cartiers looked good, the Panerais looked good, the Hublots always look good. Richard Mille is the one you slow down on.
But there was one — a 15202, the older 39mm Jumbo — that at a glance could pass.
That’s the whole point. They don’t need five thousand to be perfect. They need one.
Every watch we list gets opened first. Buy the seller, not the watch.

A beautiful summer day in the park turned into something none of us expected.

A young suspect tried to rob us for a Swatch Blancpain watch and a Michael Kors watch. As he tried to escape, he dropped the firearm. It discharged, sending people in the park running in every direction. The getaway driver managed to escape through heavy traffic.

Moments like this are a reminder that things can change in seconds. Stay aware of your surroundings and always put your safety first.

When you travel, enjoy your watches—but stay aware of your surroundings. In my experience, Thailand, Dubai, and Malaysia are among the places where I’ve felt more comfortable wearing luxury watches. No matter where you go, use common sense, avoid unnecessary attention, and make safety your priority.

After traveling the world, one thing is clear: the replica market is everywhere. From street markets to hidden shops, fake luxury goods continue to grow. Always do your research, buy from trusted sources, and remember—if the deal seems too good to be true, it usually is.

Luxury is about authenticity, not imitation.
