✨ My Original Style Icon, Molly Ross ✨ This past weekend I traveled to Calgary with the rest of my extended family for a momentous occasion - my Babba (grandmother) turned 100 years old. Mind blowing right? Wait until you flip to the last two photos to see what she looked like on her birthday. Want to know her secret? She says it’s Oil of Olay, I think it’s good genes… but I digress!
Babba has been one of my style icons for as long as I can remember. If you have watched my Instagram lives over the years, you’ll often hear me referencing pieces she wore, taking inspiration from how she wears and styles her jewellery.
Over her 100 years, fashion and style have played a major role in how she moved through the world. When I was a child playing with her silk scarves with my sister, I first noticed her eye for detail, colour, and texture. Over the years I began to recognize the care she takes in selecting her accessories for an outfit - the right shoes, bag, jewellery - every piece chosen with intention. It is her attention to detail that’s played a large role in shaping not only how I dress, but how I see beauty in the world around me.
The Michelle Ross Studio exists because of the people who have helped shape who I am today, and my Babba has been a primary influence. I have come to realize that for Babba it has never just been about style, clothing or accessories, but about the pride, care, and sense of self she brings to everything she does - a lesson I will carry with me forever.
I’d like to wish her a very Happy Birthday once again. I am incredibly proud to be her granddaughter (fingers crossed I have those genes) 💕
