When people ask me what I do, I tell them I am a Fashion Stylist.
Often, my knack for seeing the potential in everything gets a hold of me, so I often take on the role of Creative Director. It requires me to think critically and evaluate the sort of power the content I can create can have.
And for myself, my focus often tends to be about diversity.
For example, I receive stigma for my role within fashion due to my background ethnically, or my class. I also receive stigma for deviating from the stereotype of not being a nurse.
And don't get me started on the identity crisis Filipinos face when it comes to affirming our imagery. The notions of Filipina beauty is deeply colonized, as skin-whitening and hair bonding treatments still continue to be a stronghold within the community.
Therefore, as a Creative Director, my role is to be an authority on fashion and imagery by creating spaces that appreciate the beauty that every individual upholds, because that is diversity.
