We are excited to announce that Handmade Hats for Humanity are BACK exclusively at Jackson's General - Quality Provisions in Vancouver! Happy New Year everyone! I want to extend my sincerest gratitude to everyone who supported our initiative this season. I am thrilled to report that we have raised $3130 for the Botshibelo Community in South Africa so far. Thank you so much to Jackson's General - Quality Provisions for being so kind as to promote and sell our hats. Thank you to my wonderful team of knitters who donated their time and skills. Finally, a huge thank you to everyone who purchased one of our hats this season. We have already begun knitting for next year! Watch for cute new styles and colours in 2021! This year ALL profits from the sale of each hat goes directly to the Botshibelo Community Development Trust in South Africa. Botshibelo is a home of refuge for children and families effected by HIV/AIDS and poverty. The community was established in 1990 in response to the devastating effects of Apartheid. The community consists of a school, orphanage, clinic, and village. Their philosophy is that nobody seeking help gets turned away be it an adult, child or animal. As a result 800+ people call Botshibelo home. My daughter has been working closely with this community for the past 9 years. Each year she hosts a fundraising event before she travels to the community in late summer. Unfortunately, due to the ongoing restrictions brought on by the pandemic, her fundraising event had to be cancelled. I travelled to the community with my daughter back in 2016 and got to see first hand the incredible work that this community does to help make this world a better place. Here is a photo of the kids on a candy hunt that my daughter took during one of her trips. Thank you to everyone for supporting Handmade Hats for Humanity and this amazing cause.
