Hey everyone! 👋
Many of you might not know much about me, and some of you are probably wondering why I’m suddenly teaching calligraphy workshops! So, I thought this would be a good time to introduce myself.
Before starting this company, I graduated from ArtCenter College of Design in Los Angeles. Since then, I’ve been working as an illustrator and have also been a calligrapher and taught calligraphy classes for a while.
My calligraphy journey began when I was just 6 years old, learning Japanese calligraphy with a brush. The soft washi paper, the deep black sumi ink, and the calm, Zen atmosphere really shaped my love for art.
About 15 years ago, I discovered Western calligraphy and was immediately drawn to it. Even though the tools and styles are very different, they share many techniques in common.
Both are beautiful, and I’ve loved writing ever since.
While the world is moving fast with technology and AI, I find joy in doing things by hand—like making soaps, sewing, silkscreening, drawing, painting, and of course, calligraphy.
Creating artwork at your own pace, one stroke at a time, with no fancy expensive tools, just a pen, ink, and paper—a simple yet beautiful world of calligraphy.
I hope this gives you a little glimpse into my journey, and I’m really excited to share the joy of calligraphy with you all!
