Primus is an American alternative rock band known for its eccentric sound, virtuosic musicianship, and offbeat humor. Founded by bassist and vocalist Les Claypool, the band fuses funk, metal, progressive rock, and experimental music into a style entirely their own. 
They rose to prominence in the early ’90s with albums like Sailing the Seas of Cheese and Pork Soda, featuring tracks such as “Jerry Was a Race Car Driver” and “My Name Is Mud.” Alongside their music, Primus is known for its surreal visual world filled with bizarre characters, exaggerated caricatures, and Claypool’s oddball storytelling that runs through their artwork, videos, and live shows. This mix of unconventional musicianship, dark humor, and distinct visual identity has earned them a devoted cult following and lasting influence in alternative rock.
