Martin Fisher Tailors

Martin Fisher Tailors We tailor custom clothing – suits, jackets, pants, shirts and coats. We design, cut, and make each garment – from start to finish – in our Vancouver workshops.

The focus: educating, creating, and laying the foundation for a locally produced and individually tailored wardrobe. Our construction combines soft materials and subtle structuring to create shape while allowing it to conform to your body. The end result: clothes that are cut slightly closer to the body to increase comfort and mobility while providing a natural and clean aesthetic. This care and c

raftsmanship sets us apart from other shops that produce their clothing in large scale, often overseas, factory settings. Our in-house approach ensures we control the entire process and enables us to offer an affordable entry point into the custom clothing market.

Friday Style Debate: what spring jacket are you wearing?

For me the spring jacket is all about versatility; bridging the gap between warm days and cool evenings or to help us transition from a more casual environment to a setting that is more formal. It needs to be perfectly fitted - sharp enough to pair with fine tailoring or to be dressed down. Personally I'm still trying to nail down my choice for this year - it's down to the Barracuda style on the left or the traditional Bomber on the right. Did I overlook a style? What are you looking to wear? Let the debate begin...

What is Wednesday #30.

Continuing on from our discussion last week we're looking at the concept of waistband ease. Typically we add anywhere from a 1/4 to 1" of ease onto the waist measurement; this allows for greater comfort + accounts for the daily fluctuations you have due to eating and drinking. Let me know if you have any thoughts and/or comments...

Friday Style Debate: Can you over do it with white?

We had a lot of sun this week thus the return of the white sneaker is officially upon us. I ask the overdoing-it question as a fellow walked by me yesterday wearing the same outfit as the fellow on the left. My first reaction - the double use of white felt a bit too jarring. By adding a jacket - like the top right - that visual impact is totally reduced. The same effect is achieved by adding a third color option with the shirt. Agree? Disagree? Let the debate begin...

Friday Style Debate: Buttoning up without a tie?

So many potential facets to this discussion; starting with is it alright to attempt this look in the first place? Another angle is how high on the difficulty-of-execution scale is this look? And lastly how do you best go about executing this look? My two cents are up on the journal - I'd love to hear yours. Let the debate begin...
