Our plant pin fundraiser is complete!! 🌱

We raised $1770 for the Indian Residential School Survivors Society.

Thanks to the YVR Houseplant Community 🏳️‍🌈 for your huge support and inspiration in this endeavour.

Thanks also to Pins n' Crests, our local manufacturer, who offered a generous discount to this project, allowing us to send more money to the IRSSS than we would otherwise have been able to.

This has been an incredible project to take part in, thank you truly to everyone who participated.

It's a hot summer on the West Coast.

Many places in BC are already on fire, and smoke is on the way.

As with my masks, I try to make the best of a necessary piece of protection. It helps me psychologically to know that at least when the smoke comes, I'll match my respirator to my outfit and have fun with it.

I absolutely ADORE this video. Making textiles, in so many cultures, has traditionally been a communal effort, central to the life of the local community.

Textile work, weaving, beading, embroidery... they're not silent tedious lengthy chores to do in a vacuum, they are full of life and storytelling.

Nowadays, my sewing work is aided by the storytelling of youtubers and podcasters, and sometimes video calls with family. I laugh out loud and sing, and make comments, although I'm technically working alone.

I love my 'alone' time, but I also miss the days of working in busy studios, chatting and laughing. Hope to be part of that again one day.

I'm part of the YVR Houseplant Community 🏳️‍🌈 group here on ye olde facebook (I recommend it if you're into plants, great group!), which inspired me to make these fancy monstera leaf pins.

After covering costs, ALL proceeds will go to the Indian Residential School Survivors Society

Pre-order before this Sunday

Basically the more pins are pre-ordered, the more I'll have manufactured, and the lower the costs will be per pin, THEREFORE the more $$$ will go to the IRSSS.

Local pickup available at my place (near Hastings and Boundary), $2 lettermail (no tracking) also available, as well as tracked shipping options.

The pins should be ready about 3 weeks after pre-orders close

Thanks for your advice all! We had a tie between the 🐙 and the 🐢, so I did a tiebreaker and went for the turtle 🐢🐢🐢

I think the octopus 🐙 will work really well with my dark teal blue fabric, so she'll get her moment soon!

I've really enjoyed making these cycling caps! I love the fabric choices and the chance to expand our size range.

The leopard print cap is in Medium, and will be sent off to someone wonderful in later today.

The black cap is our first XS size cap (soon to be available on our listings!) and is in a 100% cotton twill fabric. Made custom for a client in 🖤
