Very cool pair of First Nations carvings !.. “The first canoe with the figures in it is "northern style" with the long prow, but the figures' faces look like they could be central coast - Heiltsuk or possibly southern Tsimshian. It's the way that the eyes are "orbed out" and the shape and position of the noses and width of the mouths. Both groups have the long-prow "northern style" canoe, so I think either of those attributions are possible. If I had to name just one, it would probably be Heiltsuk. The second canoe is Nuu-Chah-Nulth or Makah, for sure. I would guess that these two canoes were made ca. 1890-1900, somewhere in there”. Dept Anthropology UBC . Probably NFS just showing off these finds!
