A little makeover for this 10X Stetson 🤠

My dad has had this hat since the early ’90s and wore it for years. Last Father’s Day, I planned to surprise him by restoring it but once I saw the condition it was in, I knew I needed better tools to do it right.

Now that I’ve got them, I was finally able to bring it back to life and make it wearable again. We restored the original red eyelets, and he picked out this horsehair/beaded band to finish it off.

Just a simple sweatband replacement on a customer’s favorite straw hat.

She loved the way this hat fit, but she was tired of ending the day with little bits of faux leather stuck to her forehead. We replaced the worn faux leather sweatband with a genuine leather sweatband so she can keep enjoying it for a few more summers.

Bob, who lives in BC, bought this hat in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan back in 1988 while he was working there. After all these years, he was thrilled we could give it new life again. He even said it was neat to send it “home” to Saskatchewan to have it repaired.

To make it even more personal, he had us emboss his favourite verse inside the sweatband …words to live by, carried with him every time he puts the hat on.

Re-blocking takes the crown back to its original open shape, giving us a clean foundation to reshape, restore stiffness, and completely transform the hat.

Had a lot of questions over the last couple of days about the new setup, figured now would be a good time to share it with everyone.

📍 Where are we located?
I rent a building in a farmyard on the south side of Highway #13, between the junction of 13/36S and the turnoff to Verwood, SK.

🕒 Hours
I’ll be at the shop regularly, but hours may not always be consistent. You’re always welcome to stop in if I’m there, but if you want to make sure I’m around, send me a message to book an appointment.

The door is in.

This door has been part of Hat Doctor for a long time—welcoming customers, holding stories, and seeing hats begin their next chapter.

You can almost feel the energy it carries.

While we weren’t able to use it for the main entrance again, I’m just grateful we were able to give it a place here. 🚪✨

A couple days ago, Greg & Carole (and Rose) officially headed off into retirement.

Six weeks together went by fast and saying goodbye felt a little strange. Somewhere along the way, this stopped feeling like just business transaction and started feeling like friendship.

What they’ve created here is truly special, and I’m beyond grateful for the time, patience, and trust they shared with me.

Here’s to a retirement filled with everything they’ve earned (and more).
