Hi friends!
 You may have noticed I’ve been a little quiet on here the past few weeks, that’s because I decided that I'm taking a winter break from Lorelei!

Home has felt heavy these past 5 months without my beloved Shiroo, and being in my space without her has just been… hard. Add a house flood, a splash of creative burnout, a rather “meh” holiday market season, and you’ve got one squirrelly girl.

I’ve been craving a change of scenery, a reset, and the chance to breathe some new life into my many creative practices. And well, there ain’t nothing quite like grief to get the winds of change a blowing, let me tell ya.

I love natural dyeing, I love sewing, and I love creating wearable art for you, but lately I’ve been feeling the pull towards incorporating more visual art into my practice… my dreams are filled with mordant painting, block printing, sketching, exploring folk motifs tied to my family heritage, quilting, and reallyyy just letting myself play again without the pressure of production and selling.

For the past few years, the colder months have also meant a lot of financial instability for me - swimmin’ upstream, so to speak.

SO!

I’m gone babies, gone! I’m now out of town at a winter cooking job in the Kootenays, and it gives me two things I’ve really been needing: stability and space. I’ll be spending my off-weeks tucked into a familiar but fresh place, surrounded by snow, quiet, and tender friends - truly giving myself time to creatively and emotionally recover from a huge year of ups and downs, and to explore some of these crafty endeavours without all the other pressures looming over me! Win, Win.

I’ll be back in April sometime, still creating soft, sustainable wares for ya, but with a fresh burst of creativity, new ideas, and deeper reflections woven into everything I make.

Welp, well friends… I really appreciate everyone who stopped by to admire my work this weekend, but if I’m being honest, sales were spectacularly abysmal. To those who did take home a piece of my work, truly, thank you. As much as I wish it were so, I can’t eat compliments.

I’ve been radio silent on here lately as I poured my energy into preparing for two big, special events in Manitoba this month!

After a long long drive I've landed in the prairies and I couldn't be more delighted to be home

First up on the schedule is the MB Fibre Fest on Sept 5th + 6th followed by Harvest Moon Festival the next weekend, where I’ll be set up at their farmers market both Saturday and Sunday

I’m so looking forward to reconnecting with my prairie pals and to share what I’ve been creating with y'all

In the studio, I’ve been dyeing and sewing non-stop to bring many new pieces into my fall collection. Alongside my usual favourites - tops, tees, and fringe kerchiefs I’ll be debuting new vests and plenty of prairie ruffle dresses and skirts, all plant-dyed and stitched with tender lovin' care and always made from secondhand cloth

Oh hiii Kootenay folks, this one’s for you!

I’m travelling to Creston, BC at the end of September to co-host a special workshop with Jess of .studio.and.gardens

In this afternoon of natural colour, we’ll guide you through two different projects:

🌸 With me you’ll learn the steam bundle eco printing method, working with both fresh and dried botanicals to eco print a cotton bandana

🌿 With Jess, you’ll dive into mordant painting, using thickened mordants to create colourful effects on a silk scarf

Alongside the making, we’ll tour Herbarium’s beautiful farm and take part in a guided harvest from the dye gardens, connecting the process directly to place.

It is with the deepest sorrow that I announce that my baby cat Shiroo has left this earthly plain of existence.

She was my everything. My world orbited her sun.

A cherished companion, words cannot express how deeply she will be missed.

Looking for a house + cat sitter! 🏡🐈‍⬛🌿
Sept 15–Oct 17
Location: Victoria near Hillside Mall

My roommates and I are heading out of town and I’m looking for a lovely and reliable person or couple to stay in our home and give some love to my sweet senior cat, Shiroo while we're away. She’s very chill, loves naps and sunbeams, and head scritches. Her care routine is pretty relaxed but does require consistency- breakfast plus her daily insulin and gabapentin and then some dinner in the evenings + any snuggles she might allow you to give (could be many could be none she will be the judge of that lol)

We’ll also need someone to water the houseplants occasionally.

If you’re looking for a quiet place to stay on the coast this fall (free rent!) and enjoy the company of a sleepy elder kitty, send me a message. Happy to chat more about the setup and to ensure all of our mutual needs are met!

Alright y'all here is the last of my summer markets in Victoria!

I'll be hitting the open road for some big fun events in September (more on that later) so if you have been coveting a piece from me, now's the time to scoop something up before I go rogue for a couple of months

I can't wait to squeeze every last juicy drop out of this beautiful but fleeting summer with y'all at my final markets of the season. Feeling sad it's already coming to a close! What a satisfying and fulfilling season this has been so far.
