Everything I’ve learned has come from someone else’s videos. And I still have a lot to learn so I appreciate all of you that take the time to teach people like me.
Using glue dots has been extremely helpful. My ruler didn’t always slip but when it does, any sewist knows how frustrating that can be.
Thank you for passing on this simple tip! Little tips can make a huge impact. I hope it helps someone else too

I’ve actually used this method to attach my labels as well. It has helped me to keep them in place while I sew them down.
I think I’ll be using it for a lot more. I just love that it doesn’t add any stiffness or bulk because of how lightweight it is.

This quilt is the first time I’ve tried this method. It has helped so much with puckering and stretching. It has kept everything right where I want it. I think I paid maybe $1.50 for that hem tape.
Every time I sew something I’m building upon my skills. I love watching other peoples reels and learning new things. And maybe it doesn’t always work for us but I appreciate those of you that take your time to educate others. Everything I’ve learned has been through trial and error after educating myself with videos. A lot of sewing isn’t actually sewing, it’s preparation. And you don’t always need fancy tools. Some times the cheapest items help the most.

This is what quilt as you go looks like for me. Usually you would make a quilt and take it to a shop with a quilting machine. Thats where the high cost of quilts comes in to play because of that quilting process.
If I tried to quilt it as one large piece it wouldn’t fit in my machine.
Everyone does things differently so this is just how I do it. Once all my pieces are done I use strips of fabric to connect them all together.
The time it takes is long but the pay off is priceless.

There are some phrases I’ve heard all my life but never thought to far in to. One of those is “ labour of love”. I think many parts of handmade items are a labour of love. I very well could skip the embroidered border on the appliqué name but that extra touch really helps it to pop. I’m not fastest at it and it takes up to two hours per letter. I really don’t know what the time should be to do one but I don’t charge for things I choose to do on my own. I do them because I care about the item I’m making and the people receiving it. Much of what I do is a labour of love ❤️ and I get just as much joy from creating it as the people receiving it do

This is how my quilts begin 🛏️. Looks like a mess on paper 📝 but I understand it. A plan always helps so that I’m not cutting ✂️ fabrics more than once and I only purchase 💵 what I need. Many sleepless nights 😅 are spent doing math 🧮 and calculating seam allowances but having the graph paper helps take some of that anxiety away. I’m currently creating a mess on paper for a recurring customer 🥰 I can’t wait to get started. I love creating personalized items. Actually … I love all the items I make for people 🤪 It’s a great feeling being able to make a family keepsake and to see the happiness on their faces when they receive it. I’ve always been a hobbyist but at least now they don’t just pile up in the house … that’s not true haha but some of them make it out the door.

I saw this hack while scrolling sewing videos and it’s a hack that actually works. My videos don’t show how bad the mess was before using it but trust me when I say it was everywhere. The tape also helps control the fabric stretching as well while cutting. Definitely a hack I will be using every time now.
