New mask recommendations
So Health Canada is now recommending masks with a third layer of polypropylene. https://www.canada.ca/en/public-health/services/diseases/2019-novel-coronavirus-infection/prevention-risks/sew-no-sew-instructions-non-medical-masks-face-coverings.html
What is polypropylene?
NOUN
1. a synthetic resin that is a polymer of propylene, used especially for ropes, fabrics, and molded objects.
Polypropylene is often sold as a crafting fabric. It is somewhat stiffer than fabric, and has a slightly raised bumpy texture. Some reusable shopping bags are made of polypropylene.
There are so many opinions on masks, fit, style, fabric content etc, that I have decided that I will sew what you the customer requests. The three main options being,
1) 3 layer masks with polyproplene layer inside
2) 3 layer woven cotton mask,
3) regular 2 layer cotton woven masks.
My default is to sew masks with ear loops that have adjusters on them. But I can also sew stretchy straps that go around your head. I also have nosepieces available if you want them.
No matter which mask you choose, remember to have it fit well, snuggly over your nose and chin, change it when it is damp, and wash it regularly. Let’s keep everyone safe!
Regular masks (2 layers) are $6, nose pieces or 3 layer masks are $7, and $8 for both nosepieces and third layer.
