today would have been your 11th birthday, which means it has also been about two months since you left us. navigating this world without you in it has been a struggle, especially when you have played such a big role in our daily routines for over a decade.
I still listen for you when I come home, I still keep your blankets folded in your favourite chair, I still keep your leash by the bench, I still wake in the middle of the night feeling around for your warmth at the foot of my bed. your absence is the loudest, most deafening sound, but I somehow still feel you everywhere I go.
my sweet girl, you are in every sunrise/set, every rainbow after a storm, every breeze that blows across my cheeks, every animal that wanders into the yard, and in every star in the night sky.
