Ok September, give us those last few weeks of summer. Honestly though I’ll probably be visiting all winter long for that summer feeling.

One of the best parts of a project is the final photoshoot. It’s usually a long day (or three!) but it offers the opportunity to see the project in a new light (😌). We can bring in flash and lights, we can edit out those outlets and switches we don’t want to see - is it an idealized way to view our work as designers? Maybe. But I think it’s the final phase of the design process - what was on paper is now there in real life, and we can play with it and collaborate with the photographer and decide how it’s represented. So maybe it’s not idealized design after all: maybe it’s the truest form of our ideas and vision.

Introducing ! My clients here won a local competition to inject some new life and business into downtown Langley, and this cafe was born. Pink but not too pink, play with materials and textures (yes to the 90’s granite), and a few surprises along the way (including those ceiling beams) - this project was a rare joy from start to finish.
