Meet the maker:
Hello, my name is Amanda Hartness. I live in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. I am originally from Halifax, Nova Scotia. I moved to the prairies in 2012 and met my husband the following year. We were married in 2014.
I learned to knit as a child from my grandmothers. I remember having a terrible time wrapping my brain around how this worked. I am left-handed, and try as I did, I usually had the stitches backwards or twisted, dropping or adding too many. As an adult I picked up the skill again, and thankfully sorted out my stitches, picked up new techniques and learned to follow and adjust patterns. I have dabbled in making my own designs, and am so excited to share my original designs with you.
My day job, pandemic not inclusive, is working behind the circulation counter at the Winnipeg Public Library. I’ve always wanted to work in a library, since I was a little girl. I love helping people find what they are looking for, be it information, books, movies, ect.
In my spare time when I’m not knitting, I enjoy looking through recipes- I love to cook and try new things- and reading. I also stay busy as a volunteer talking to people and teaching about the Bible.
