we're due with our first little babyganoush in a month and are temporarily closing down shop 👶🏻

what does this mean, exactly?
🧡 our Instagram and shapesandfeelings.ca shops are temporarily shut down and will shift to sharing more content about not daunting, accessible sustainable lifestyle stuff in the meantime. it's totally cool if you unfollow if that's not your jam, but we do hope you stick around
🧡 we're still accepting new consignment community registrations, but no new drop-offs until we're ready (est. spring/summer 2022)
🧡 all existing consignment community contracts will be paid out via e-transfer within the week. any unsold items must be picked-up/delivered/shipped by Monday, January 10th, 2022, or they will be donated on your behalf to a local organization
🧡 orders not picked up by Monday, January 10th, 2022 will also be donated - we'd be happy to deliver them to you within Winnipeg, f'real

finally, thank you for all your support throughout 2021. while hitting “pause” isn't ideal, especially after such a successful year, we know this is what's best as we figure out the whole parenting thing. we’ll be disconnecting from Instagram the rest of 2021 to power through some super exciting admin tasks, so we'll see you again in 2022

Ava here, the gal behind this space. yesterday was so thought I’d share a bit of my journey to Shapes and Feelings.

💁🏻‍♀️ I’ve always loved fashion, and would gift myself subscriptions to magazines like YM and Teen Vogue with my birthday money for that sweet Y2K fashion inspo as a kid lol

💁🏻‍♀️ coming from a lower income situation, I had to find creative ways to feed my desire to look cute. I started thrifting to find affordable dupes for what I saw in magazines. when I could get a credit card, I began shopping secondhand online (eBay, anyone?) to source unique pieces you couldn’t easily find in Winnipeg

💁🏻‍♀️ I was a mall rat as a student and worked as a stylist at brands like Aritzia and Club Monaco. I built up quite the closet, which was pretty much mandatory at these jobs. the unfortunate irony was, I was also an advocate for environmental sustainability on campus, and even launched a whole festival about it that still goes on today. I also discovered the consignment process through the campus used bookstore

💁🏻‍♀️ moving to Vancouver in 2013 on a whim to gain perspective, I outgrew most of my mall pieces and needed to declutter. I discovered a local consignment shop and sold nearly everything. the process was so easy and I welcomed the extra cash to help cover my Gastown rent

🙆🏻‍♀️ coming back to Winnipeg five years ago after having worked in marketing for some major brands, I started dreaming up how I could bring a similar service to my hometown and make it as simple and stress-free for everyone to keep their clothing circular

…and here we are, just over a year later after launching with 300+ folks in our consignment community and closing in on 800 pieces successfully recirculated. Shapes and Feelings was a bit of a lifetime long dream in the making come true ☁️ thank you, thank you, thank you for being here 🙏🏼
