Meet Licorice. He is smart, creative and a little shy. He also LOVES to write! Currently, he is working on a short story about a cave hippo and a mammoth. We have already given you a sneak peek at the drawings for this story, and now a taste of the story.

Mammoths don't like cave hippos. Maybe they think cave hippos stink. Perhaps they are jealous that cave hippos can carry a club, although mammoths could if they used their trucks, but none ever try.

Regardless, mammoths don't like cave hippos.

There was once one mammoth, Sandy, who REALLY didn't like cave hippos, so much so that she would chase them whenever she could.

She would chase them UP trees. The cave birds did not like that.

She would chase them DOWN hills. The cave gophers loved that because they enjoyed tripping cave hippos (cave gophers are not very kind as you can see).

Sometimes it is hard to take the kids out to the library or the park by myself. I wish that my husband could come with me all the time, but having a job is kind of important so that doesn’t work. There is definitely a lot of work that comes with going on an outing. I have to make sure that everyone has gone potty, that we have our shoes on, jackets zipped up…etc. I have to make sure that my bag is packed with diapers, lots of snacks to persuade the kids to leave the park, and toys for the car ride. It does take a lot of work to go somewhere where we may only spend 30 minutes at a certain place.

Some may consider us old fashion, but our greatest joy, accomplishment and purpose has been creation and raising of our three kids.

Is parenting easy, no. Doing anything of value rarely if ever is. Without life creating more life all life will eventually cease to exist.

Personally I have felt like adjusting to three kids is harder than two kids. I want to be able to give them all equal attention, but I know they deserve more. Our second child has become a little more defiant; she loves saying “no” a lot and getting in her brother’s space and annoying him. Today the thought came to me that part of her problem is that, yes, she is a toddler so it is normal what she is doing, but also that she might be needing a little more extra attention.
