It’s been an amazing career so far and my favorite is yet to come. Right now my goal is to transform the thought process away from me and more into the spotlight of others. I want 67 Sherbrook st to be a haven of artistry, a hive of creativity that markers and patrons can come together on. A space where all can come and explore together for the greater good. That’s right,
67 Sherbrook st is looking for makers, crafters, workshops, teachers and visitors to participate in community events every Saturday this summer starting June 13th. We have room for 15 makers every Saturday. Tell your friends, come down for a visit 11-5 every Saturday this summer starting June 13.

My goal is to create a hive of creativity which increases your personal knowledge of sustainable fashion. This creates mental wellness and builds confidence through clothing, zero waste design mentality and entrepreneurship all combining in a community space.

There is always a way forward. There is always a way to move the needle in the right direction. I feel blessed to do this career for as long as I have. Now it’s time to give back more, to facilitate growth for more people and businesses to thrive. Do you know of a maker who is looking to showcase their work? I want to fill up my building and property with makers, crafters, painters etc! I envision a thriving community of artists and makers who help eachother grow, who lift eachother up.

Markets start June 13th and run every Saturday until middle of September.

Also this Friday is Vine and Vogue, a networking event where artists, patrons and other likeminded people come together to enjoy each others company, sip some drinks and eat some chocolate. 7-9pm at my shop. Come for a visit and mingle! Tag friends, tag makers, let’s have fun.

Jury is out. Fast fashion should be too.
We got a new fast fashion brand in Winnipeg yesterday, to be honest it made me furious. A record attendance for them with the mayor endorsing fast fashion and the continued exploitation of workers, our planet and local designers.

I thought about protesting it and making a big splash but cooler heads around me instructed me to hold back.

For me seeing people parade around in mass produced chemical clothing makes my stomach turn. When I see you I think cool cool you support slave labour and poor working conditions. Sorry that’s harsh but say that to the child sweating in a factory working for scraps.

I know it’s extreme but my goal has always been to transform the clothing industry from the inside out with a massive interactive art display and workshop space. Hence the massive statues I’ve been building for years.

I want to help support you to make choices that flatter your body and shape. Find you garments that light you up and create a vitality and invigoration for your body and being. This can be done using vintage, rentals or purchased clothing but it has to be made with love and respect. It doesn’t matter where your clothing is made, it matters how it is made and whose hands touched it. Each woven seam, each stitch, is it done by someone enjoying their craft or is it someone forced to work in poor working conditions just so you can have a shirt that you enjoy until you realize it has no joy in it other than the fleeting high of a fast fashion purchase.

This is your choice. We all have choices. We have actions that we can take everyday to enhance our lives. They don’t have to happen all at once but when we see our opportunity to support good causes and good people we feel that vibration and energy far beyond the seams.

Clothing can be warn until the end of its use then given to someone who can use it. Hence a rental program or refresh program to give old garments life.

When stained they can be painted or patched.
When it is thread bare and has sentiment,it can be turned into sculptures or cut up for stuffing for pillows or coats.

When you wake up in the morning and you’re not sure what to wear I highly recommend you put something on a little bit over the top. Wear something that is a little outside your comfort zone and dazzle your friends and colleagues. You can never be over dressed, you can only be under dressed! If you’re not sure about your wardrobe and how to edit it I’m here for you! One more great thing is my rental program, try out my work and see how to makes you feel without the commitment of the full sticker price! Sounds good right?
