I haven’t made much progress lately on my pink version of Dazzling Daffodils but an afternoon in the sunny backyard might help.

The beauty of knitting an end-to-end shawl is that you can do it with any amount of yarn. I weighed my yarn before starting and I’ve now done 5 repeats of the Increase Section. Should I do the sixth repeat? Or should I start decreasing now? I started with 121 grams of yarn and I have 64 grams left. It’s time to decrease.

This shawl has become a special one for me at this time of the year. I'm so grateful to the knitters who have purchased it over the years and helped me make wonderful donations to a great cause. There’s something about starting a new shawl that always feels like possibility. It’s a new beginning, it’s better than before, and it’s a fresh start.

This new little start to my pink Dazzling Daffodils Shawl doesn’t look like much. The beginning of a shawl always feels awkward but when we push through and keep on knitting it turns into something beautiful. Just like a daffodil.

Every April I return to my Dazzling Daffodils Shawl. It’s a piece that has come to mean so much more than just knitting. I’m dropping the price to $2 again this year and donating it to the Canadian Cancer Society.

This year I’m challenging myself to knit two more Dazzling Daffodils in these two beautiful SweetGeorgia Yarns colours of Cashluxe Fine: Peony and Wisteria. That’s because yellow daffodils aren’t the only spring flower to symbolize hope and renewal. These two pretty colours remind me of cherry blossoms, tulips, hyacinths, and others.

Knitting can be such a quiet kind of comfort. It’s something steady to hold onto in difficult times. If you’ve been looking for such a project then maybe this shawl pattern is perfect for you too.
