Designed with movement in mind, the Aminatu Silk Trouser is cut in delicate organic Madagascar silk, a fabric that takes time and care to work with. The result is a fluid silhouette that falls naturally through the body, with a high waist that can also be worn lower on the hips.

Side button adjusters allow the fit to shift with the way you choose to wear it.

The kaftan has travelled across continents and centuries, taking on different meanings in different places.

Our version is cut in a fluid V-shaped silhouette, with deep side slits that allow the fabric to move freely around the body.

The prints draw from textile traditions that have long informed the visual language of Mopepe.

The Taitu Silk Dress is named for Empress Taytu Betul of Ethiopia, a woman remembered not only for her political influence, but for the role she played in shaping Ethiopia’s history.

The dress itself is intentionally uncomplicated. An ankle-length silk silhouette, a V-neckline, a tie at the waist and pockets for practicality.

Because sometimes the most considered pieces are the ones that leave room for the woman wearing them.

The Taitu Silk Dress is named for Empress Taytu Betul of Ethiopia, a woman remembered not only for her political influence, but for the role she played in shaping Ethiopia’s history.

Makeda is a reinterpretation of one of Mopepe’s signature silhouettes.

The piece brings together handwoven Baoulé fabric from Benin and lightweight Shibori silk, creating a meeting point between structure and movement.

We removed the front slit in this version, allowing the fabric to fall continuously around the body.

Finished with an adjustable belt and side pockets, it can be worn open or drawn closer to the body.

There is something particularly interesting about clothing that refuses to have only one way of being worn.

The Dihya Twist Top was designed around this idea. It can be wrapped and tied differently, allowing the wearer to decide how much of the body she wants to reveal.

Paired with the Aminatu Trouser, the fluidity continues through the silhouette.

Both pieces are cut in silk, allowing the fabric to become part of the movement rather than simply sitting on the body.

The Amina Cross Dress takes its name from Queen Amina of Zazzau, remembered as a formidable ruler and military leader.

Handwoven Dan Fani brings texture and history into the piece, with each strap woven by hand.



We were interested in translating that sense of strength without making the garment feel rigid.

Crossover straps shape the neckline, while discreet inside buttons and adjustable straps allow the fit to be refined around the body. Available in linen and silk.

The Zafira Silk Slip dress has always carried a certain ease. There is something about the way it follows the body without asking it to conform.



For Mopepe, we wanted to bring that same simplicity into silk.

Simple cut, with adjustable straps, side pockets and a slit at the hem, the silhouette is deliberately uncomplicated. The print and the movement of the fabric do the work.
